Auto box stalled

Pulled out of a junction this morning into the flow of mindless commuters only to find that when I stopped my auto box stalled on me. Its never happened before, I was thinking is it because I gave too much gas to pull out then immediately stopped?. The engine was still cold (been on for about 3 mins.).

Anybody else encountered this, or is it just a one off fluke??.

The only time my autobox has stalled is when the PTU started to fail. Did it start up again straight away?

Mine started stalling when I had a bad connection to the TPS.

The car started up straight away, no problem. Must off been a fluke as I said.

This happened to me a while back: I'd been cruising along the M4 westbound for about half an hour and turned off at Newbury - anyone who knows the area will know there's a long straight slightly downhill sliproad that ends at a roundabout. Gently slowed down from motorway speeds aiming to stop at the roundabout and the engine stalled at the bottom. Started again instantly but it was a tad hairy.

Took the car to JeffTT soon after for a general checkover and he cleand the throttle bodies while I was there. This semed to cure the problem but the autobox failed about a week later. I now have a fully rebuilt gerabox and the stalling problem is gone completely. Because the box was obviously on its way out I don't know if it was dirt in the TBs or a knackered box cauing the problem, but it's worth cleaning the TBs anyway.

My 2p.

James.
