Don't panic, I'm not selling the Z!!

Dilemma number one - been made redundant and may have to give up my 2003 deisel Vectra - a nice place to sit with low mileage and factory fitted extras worth about £2.5-3k If I do sell the Vectra, I will then have half a chance of setting up my own Recruitment business from the proceeds.

So, do i swallow my pride and go back to driving a 1997 white Civic - worth about £700 (not my first choice of car if I'm using it for my new business adventure) or keep the Vectra and have less cash?

Dilemma number two - Do I take the plunge and set up my own business or just get another job? Anyone done this them selves? Is it a good time?

Thanks in advance.

Andy

no need for this kind of behaviour andy, if ya want to go on like this then go to another known zed forum that will accept it

ian was just doing as he was asked as a moderator and it has kept the forum running well for a long time now so wont change

im off to bed now so will just read the sarky long thought out reply in the morn

Boring!

anyway....

hows the business idea's going Andy :flowers:

Hi Martin, I think it may work out ok just need to look at my figures and set out some goals with time lines.......

I think your missing the point here.

IF you wanted advice on a business venture, where was the point in even saying the cars were forsale? why even mention where the money was coming from.

"im trying to see if its a good idea to start up a business, potentially i might have around 800 from one source, or 1800 from another, to put funds into getting the business up and running, also, what car would be better for my business image? a civic or a vectra?"

there ya go, no mention of the cars being the main source of your income, the same question, and also the cars in the same thread.

We have had plenty of people who have put up threads the same as yours, and sooner or later you get someone post asking you to contact them about the cars.

sorry matey, as i said it wasn't a Judgement call, its what we do to every post that starts like that from a registered user.

Jumping the gun on my comment about removing it, and then throwing a paddy about it while thinking your hard done by, doesnt make the situation better does it?

at the end of the day, i did what we always do to every thread. may be you should of worded it better to start with.

im just wondering though, had it been someone else who editted it, would you of acted the same?

Gary - please take a look at this and take out the personal insults before I reply. Can't be one rule for one and not the other!!

Cheers Gary, We have all made bad calls at times me included and I will always put my hands up in such circumstances. The last thing I need when asking people for advice about my recent misfortune is someone taking figures out of my thread which are a crucial part of the decision process. Do you understand what I am saying? I think most people on here do!!

I understand what you are saying but I must repeat Ian did what I would have done and the rules are clear on this and personal attacks are not accsepted but you are still getting personal with Vodkashots so your status will have to be concidered.

See my last comment!!

Agreed - Gary and Ian have moderated in accordance with the club's rules/AUP.

I've tidied this thread and "soft" deleted any posts that I consider unnecessary - so please let's keep it on topic.

And please remember, personal attacks on moderators WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. One member has received a week's ban for that earlier this evening, let's not make it two in one night!

Richard

Also see my last comment! Attacks on me WILL NOT BE TOLERATED also!! LOL!!

Keep the one that is most presentable if you will be seeing clients in it, I started my company on the Back of Being made redundant and have never looked back. Best of luck to you with it all... remember you can never be made redundant ruinning your own company.

If you get stuck with anything at all business wise drop me a line, will be happy to help.

OK that's a deal as long as you bring the Z!! We are only downs the M3 from each other!!

LOL - that "i" makes all the difference to your comment Martin!!

But good luck with your new venture Andy.

Richard:cool2:

Cheers Richard.

i cant believe after all the slagging off you did on andy's site about the mods and this forum that you even dare come on here and go on like you did, it was a disgrace some of the thing's you said to make you look like the hero and legend they called you over there

you may think it's boring but it's the truth, maybe the insult's your recieving now are just retaliation from what you said in the past?

as i said once in a pm to you, anyone is welcome to use the forum, and i stand by that, but you of all people have no right to type the shit you do about the way the forum is run and think you can get away with it

it's a terrible thing to lose your job, michelle has just gone through that and it's not nice and i do sympathise and hope you get back on your feet ASAP

If i was you i would sell the civic and keep the vec. I would also get a new job.

Whilst you are at your new job you will have a nice sum of money comming in to set up you new adventure. aswell as all the bills etc

Wait untill you know it is going to work and up and running fully before leaving your new job :)

this way you will be safe and sound

Still boring!! Not sure what you are taliking about on Andys site unless it was the stuff about your rusty Z? Honestly Alan, some times it's best to let stuff like that stay in the past. We've all had the micky taken out of us at you just have to man-up and take it. Sometimes some of us can forget about it and move on. Me and Vodkashots seem to be over it as most men tend to and I'm sure will be sat in a field again very soon getting rat arsed and taking the piss out of each other!

Yes I do have a view on over enthusiastic mods who over moderate sometimes (in my opinion of course!) and if things escalate then there are normally two people doing it. Me and Ian are probably just too alike!!

Vods and I are both old enough and ugly enough to sort out our short lived differences without your interpretation of vengence from the distance past being slapped all over it!

Sorry to hear about your other half. what line of work is she in?

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhh!!! I know what you are saying but I just don't seem to be able to do both at once! I've said to my self before that I will do this and then I end up throwing myself into making money for someone else as an employee and have no time and energy for doing my own thing.

Today though, I hada phone call from a big software company about working for them and i have a telephone interview on Monday!! Bugger!!

Take it up mate. Its better to be safe than sorry if it all goes tit up.

If you really want it to work im sure you can find some time. Thats how i set up any way. I had to shill out thousands to tool up and get materials ect.

only took 2 months of planning etc. but it was well worth the hassel :)

Is that the fiberglass business?

When i started my business i took up a 6am - 2pm factory shift to pay the bills but leave the rest of the day free to get the business going mate. It's hard graft holding down 2 jobs especially when some nights you're working literally all day but eventually when you've found your wings, the work's coming in nice and regularly and you can take you're feet off the ground you start flying and never look back :)

The reason i went for manual labour was it meant i had plenty of time to plan what i was going to do all day in my head then execute it when i got back. That way you're not mentally tired when you get back, wide awake by that point and ready to get cracking!

Plus the benefit is although you're not making as much as you would do in the job you're trying to start you're still £200 better off a week with a regular pay cheque in your bank :)

please dont :lol::lol:

Actually probably not a good idea as I can never understand your strong Welsh accent........................................ Wait for it!!!!

Good luck for Monday Andy.

Maybe worth considering that taking the job with the software company in the meantime, give's you the time to put a cast iron business plan together, whilst also providing you with the financial security that you need for day to day living = minimal stress in the coming months (which has to be good)

I found myself in a very similar situation recently, luckily for me I've had a lot of support and managed to do my networking beforehand and it's all worked out well.

On a seperate note (and not wanting to get drawn into any personal arguments here as I don't know the full 'what's been said by who' and don't really care if I'm honest) but I feel that it's my afforded right as a subscribed member of this forum to say that I found some of the comments and individuals reactions throughout this thread (un-moderated and moderated) quite sad to witness and if I'm completely honest certain aspects were quite ugly in fact.

Rules are rules and quite rightly they should be enforced, there will always be a grey area and opinions will inevitably vary as to what extent the letter of the law should be enforced.

If a contravention of the rules has occured then quite rightly it's the moderators 'job' for want of a better word, to react accordingly.

However an individuals intention and their perceived intention can be difficult to determine in just a few lines of posted text and can quite easily become an emotionally fuelled topic.

Over reactions can cause people to get their backs up and become defensive/aggresive on both sides of the argument, when both sides are effectively in the right depending on intention vs perceived intention.

I see that the above situation has resolved itself and this is a credit to the adult nature of most 300zx.co.uk forum members, unlike some lesser and frankly immature (non zed) car forums out there.

I don't however feel that it's acceptable for retaliations to arise based on legacy disagreements that originated from other forums that quite frankly should not be aired on this forum and should also not be permitted to fuel an argument one way or the other.

'This' forum is our collective forum and issues originating from other forums have no place here.

We've lost some well known/much loved/much hated or contraversial characters in recent years and I'll reserve judgement on that as again I don't know the ins' and outs of each case.

However if members have reservations or concerns as to the manner by which certain aspects of moderating is conducted then surely that individual should, as a fully paid up and subscribed member of this forum, be able to voice his opinion on 'this' forum in a manner that is acceptable and appropriate (again not interested in the other forum).

The view of like it or lump it, in my opinion, is not a true reflection of the ethos of this particular forum and we should be incouraging individuals to stay in order for us to prosper in the future?

Moderating, it has been emphasised, is a voluntary thing and all credit to you guys and gal's that give your own time in order to better the forum, in many ways it can no doubt be a thankless task.

The above are my own views, and I for one appreciate the fact that our forum is a collective of very different (some extremely passionate) characters from a multitude of backgrounds with a strange fixation for a particularly special (albeit expensive to fix/build) Nissan.

No offence intended to any individual and if any offence has been taken then (tough f**kin' shit, man the f**k up and we'll have a straightener at the pod!!)....only joking...if any offence is caused by any of the above then it is not intended

Peace :thumbup1:
