AIV Cleaning / Rebuild

Is it a nightmare to do this job??

Hoe easy is this do, and what would the effect be on the car if AIV faulty?

...it's easy, get under the plastic wheel arches and remove the valves - squarish plastic boxes if I remember right. Seperate the 2 halfs and clean the reeds. Re assembly is a reverse blah blah - as they say in the manuals.

Better still remove all the aiv stuff altogether, block off the exhaust connecting pipes and the two small inlet manifold and balance tube outlets - and you'll rid yourself of the gurgling once and for all. Because the gurgling will return no matter how many times you clean the valves.

Pluss side with removal is that you car will weigh less - ie go faster.

I'm no mechanic so please don't hold me responsible etc.

good luck
