to de clutter the dashboard.

as some of you know i run a ipaq pda with ecu talk software to give me extra gauges fed info direct from the ecu it also allows me to run basic diagnostics on the car without carrying around a laptop. now as i was using a windowscreen holder i didnt like the cluttered look,

having a little brain wave and seeing others putting single gauges in the door vent i decided to see if i could squeeze the screen behind that.

now rob came to the rescue when i advertised on here for a spare one and the sod wouldnt accept any cash even for postage!! cheers dude your a legend!

anyway i have been messing about with it over the last couple of days and i think i have sorted it, its not perfect but it is functional. if i can be arsed i may re do it but for now my brain hurts and to me it looks ubar cool :)

the method:

1.find some thin plastic film such as plastic packaging that headphones come in,

2.stick some window tint on the reverse of it to give a smoked look,

3.remove the directional slats from the vent

4.stick the plastic to the back,

5.dissasemble the ipaq

6.align the screen to the back of the film making sure you can use all of the touchscreen (most fiddly part!!!)

7.hot glue the screen to the vent,

8.add ipaq circuit board to the back of the screen and hot glue again.

9.test, sit back and crack open beer and worry about how to mount it tomorrow :)

the good thing is as its a windows pda its all touch screen and customisable:) hoping to get a z logo startup screen on there too
