well found out where the smoke was coming from, id wired up the wingmirrors last week after someone who owned it before me had basically just cut the wire. only to find today once id taken the center console apart again that the cables had fused together. now not sure whats going on here, but it definitely wasn't my wiring, as the wires for the cables were exactly the same when wired together. so it was like for like colour.

 

Obviously it shorted out somewhere along the lines as the two of the wires were melted to each other all the way down,

 

I used these type of connector to connect the wires together.

The cable i used for the plug was off a UK spec TT, the wiring loom i connected it too was a UK spec TT.
