Finally after 2 years of work I managed to actually turn the key and see if my engine transplant worked.

And........... she started in the time it took the fuel to run from the tank to the injectors . There was no farting, spluttering clonking tapping and more importantly no dodgy fumes coming out of the exhaust

Still have a lot of work to do but I am so chuffed right now. The engine last ran when i went headfirst into a crashbarrier in my old jdm 2 years ago. It's been sat for a year and a half outside under a tarp, before I gave it a service and cam belt change. And to think, before I got my zed's I couldn't even change the oil in a car. It's been a slow process as I've had to learn to do so much but It's been great fun and seeing and hearing it running was a massive joy.

Fab! Well done you. I so wish I could do stuff like this. Maybe after nurse training I'll learn how to fix cars. Then I might stop getting f**ked over by garages :sneaky2:

lol. Best advice I can give is ; Get stuck in and don't be scared. I just used the manual and advice from here to help me learn, both have been invaluble.

Top work...I am no mechanic but since I got my Zed nearly two years ago I have learnt so much. I haven't attempted anything like an engine change myself but I have tried stuff that's way out of my comfort zone and when it works it's great. Many congratulations..enjoy!

Always good to read when guys have done it for themselves, and bring a zed back to life.

You must be well chuffed. Good on you mate.

Priming the turbo`s oil supply is essential after such a long shut down, here is crossing fingers all will be ok.

Is this just a case of allowing the engine to run without boost for a fair while Jeff, or is there more to it than that?

nice one steamy:). i know the feeling of getting it running after a very long time:)

Cheers Mikester
