Reading through my insurance certificate and wondered what this meant -

"The driving of other cars extension is not included for any driver named on the policy"

Does this mean me and the other 2 people named on my policy, or just the named drivers? Could be doing with a company that when I'm fully comp. I can drive other other cars.

It should mean that you, as the main policy holder/driver, are insured to drive other cars (not belonging to you); albeit on a 3rd party basis only.

But anyone else named on the policy (eg your wife) is not covered to drive other cars under your policy; IE that your insurers will cover other named drivers to drive your car only.

Best check with your insurers that you can still drive other cars though.....

Yea I'm gonna give them a call tommorrow, the reason I'm asking this is my dad is getting a mobility car soon and needs to put his insurance on something to keep his no claims bonus.

So I saw him insuring the Zed and me keeping my daily driver and I could still drive the Zed on the odd weekend/event!

I see.....

......but do remember that driving other cars on your own policy is usually restricted to 3rd party cover. And the car in question has to be insured elsewhere too (although that isn't going to be an issue as you have just explained!).

If you do that, it would be safer if you were also a named driver on your dad's policy for the ZX. But be careful, if the insurer can prove you are still the main driver of the ZX, they may refuse to pay out in the event of an accident.

Yea I won't be the main driver as my dad still wants a toy to drive when he has the Diesel Fester (lol). Just can't seem to work out any classic insurance due to my age and can't afford 3k a year for the Zed and a daily driver :/

She's just sitting in the garage looking sorry for herself lol :(

be carefull, if it doesnt actually say that your (as the named policy holder) insured to drive other car's there is a possibility that your not covered at all

not all fully comp insurance's allow you to drive other car's

Aye that's what I was thinking mate, I reckon I'm not covered so I'm gonna call the company tommorrow and ask if I am or if they can add it.

Really starting to get me down not being able to drive the Zed now, waited so long to have a decent car and had to take her off the road because the amount she was costing me in fuel commuting!

Tried near enough every route I can think of to insure it without being bent over but it just isn't happening lol
