ok done a little search about missfire

have a little missfire that seems to come and goes

and its around the 1500>1800rpm with little load

its on the drivers side engine bank as i can Hear & Smell Fuel when its missing on that side ( exhaust )

now its had new coil packs/cables/plugs about a 2 years ago and i have just fitted some new

NGK Iridium Plugs

now if it was the injector that is failing would i smell fuel ? as thinking its unburnt fuel me thinks its a coil pack thats

does the inlet manifold have to come off to unplug/take out the injector ?

Thanks

If you have a series 1 PTU than have a look at the connector plugs as a dodgy connection can cause a missfire.

miss fire could be attributed to the plugs. NGK make specific plugs for standard TT and N/A's they are slightly longer so the spark end sits further into the cylinder to help ignite and stop you getting det.

If you want to find out if your injector is working, start the engine, get a long screw driver, put it on the injector cap, then place your ear on the end of the screw driver handle, if the injector is firing you will hear a rhythmic clicking.

TT spark plug code = PFR6b-11B

N/A spark plug code = PFR6G-11

it was missfiring before plugs was changed and these ones are for the Turbo

NGK bcpr6eix-11 (4919)

the car runs better

oh my car is a Mid 1994 think this makes it a series 3 ?

Could be PTU or MAF related, check plugs and clean as necessary, recheck coil pack plugs, there is a orange plug grommet, if this isnt seated correctly can interfere with how well the plug - plugs in. (unless yours are missing like most), also check the CAS plug as well.

Some info on spark plugs though.

Nissan OEM PFR6B-11B "6" Heat Range should be used for stock turbos up to 15 Lbs of boost.

"7" Heat Range: Stock Turbos (15+ PSI), Sport 500s. 530s, & 600s. Great for street use.

"8" Heat Range: For those who race at high boost levels and any upgraded turbochargers. Good for nitrous as well. Great for street use.

"9" Heat Range: Race use only! Great for high boost and nitrous use. Not recommended for daily driving.

all the plugs and Gromit seals are clean and not broken ..

the smell of fuel only happens when its missfiring ..

i have checked the Maf and filters and there ok

all the old plugs was nice and golden with a little bit of soot on the outer thred ring

whats the Cas Plug

whats the PTU ..

the NGK's i have now are Rated 6

If you smell fuel, then i suspect the injector is firing, but the spark isnt. PTU is a sliver box, that sits on the drivers side timing belt cover, with 2 cables connected each side of it. follow the cable to the passenger side, and it will connect to the main water pipe entering the engine for the water temp gauge and water temp sender, then if you carry on following the cable, it will pass the CAS unit on the front of the passenger side timing belt cover. one plug.

thanks i got that ..

i'm sure i seen a thing u can move it off the cam cover as it gets heat problems

or bad connections i will check it out

do u happen to have one of those duel mushroom filter things for sale ?

no on the filter, you can relocate the PTU to near the battery area, but you will have to unwrap the wiring and re-route it, the most common way of getting rid of this over heating issue, is to get a series 2 PTU with harness.

ok ... got another coil pack and swopped each one and it made no Diffrents

would it likely to be the injector ?

are these common for failing at all ?
