Yeah it is. It's the second time I've seen the Ark Royal scrapped. Doesn't seem right to not have an "Ark" in the RN anymore.

they said they was going to have it as a floating museum!! must have decided against the idea:mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2::mad2:

It is sad - they were going to park it up in Misrata if they hadn't already SORN'ed it.

Loved this quote from the sale site:

Product ID: ARK001

Manufacturer:

Availability: In stock

They've given it a number and they know they've got one but they don't know who made it :devil2:

All the details listed are appropriate for scrap metal values as well !!

Shame really ! Yet we still spend billions maintaining 4 Vanguard class submarines carrying a weapons platform we have never used and never will use! Is it just so people fear us and the people in charge feel safe. Not exactly realistic defence though is it?

I mean when would we ever USE nuclear weapons... the fan would have to turn REALLY brown.

Also been hearing about jets and planes flying direct from UK for action in Libya, when they could have had an

aircraft carrier off the coast of Africa to save a lot of fuel and wasted time!

Scrapping the Ark Royal/Harrier GR9s and the Nimrod MRA4s, platforms that were vital to the armed forces and have been proven in battle, whilst keeping a Nuclear deterrent, weapons that we have never used and never will use (lets be realistic here ) is just feckin madness .

My friend has worked on the periphery of the defence industry, signed the OSA and it's common knowledge that 1 in 3 of the trident physics packages is a dud anyway... ?? Go figure !!

Well, we could always buy back the Hermes

It's odd to think there's a s/h dodgy dealer aspect to flogging warships and planes and tanks. Get one off eBay, do it up, flog it to a TPLAC, then quick shammy and make a turn on the one you took in pex.

...physics packages is a dud anyway...

You mean beurmb? Here's a pic of a forum member standing (hello jay 300zx) next to a real UK "physics package" when we visited Farnborough Air Museum.
