Right, i have funds in my paypal, and i have funds in my bank.

Now if i wanted to purchase something from ebay but had the funds split between my bank account and paypal can i still purchase it and how does it work?

always wondered this as cant see people waiting 5 to 7 days for funds to clear into paypal if the listing ends before the funds are in.

It will use up your paypal funds first unless you tell it to take from the bank.

If you have £30 in paypal and you buy something for £40 it will use £30 thats in paypal and take £10 from the bank.

when it takes the 10 from the bank does it have to wait for it to clear? or is it instant? still cant work out why paypal takes so bloody long to get funds in it.

Takes it right away, going into paypal is instant, out is three days

not from my santander account its not matey, put some funds in last tuesday, and its saying its not going to be ready till 3rd of may :(

The easiest way is to have a credit card linked to Paypal, then the transfer in is instant. I wouldn't use a debit card though - you don't get the same level of protection, in fact I never use a debit card if I can possibly avoid it.

Treat it like a charge card and pay it in full every month, think of it as cash, not credit, but I agree, it does take self control.

i suppose the easiest way is getting one of them pay as you go credit cards. though never really felt the need to have one just for paypal, but its looking like its not such a bad idea lol

I was going to suggest a pay as you go credit card. I had one a few years ago to hide my cash gigs in lol. You can opt for a £1 fee per transaction or a £5 a month fee, regardless of purchase. You still get the credit card purchase protection and you can put upto £5k max on some, but remember if you dont use it or put money on it on a regular basis, you will still be paying the £5 a month. So worth thinking about, its only your own cash your spending rather than borrowing.

You dont need to put money into paypal. My account us verified.

If i bought something on ebay say, it would pay for it straight away, but sometimes take a few days to leave my account. The seller will get the funds instantly tho.
