Car has been recovered :D :D :D :D :D :D

Guess what! Just got a call from the police and they found my CAR!!!! ITS A MIRACLE!! It was found on rivenhall Gardens near Epping forest E18 area in a car park next to a house o.O, i am very surprised at how the police did nothing watsoever to secure the car, they just rang me to tell where it was and left it there!!. Unfortunately when i went to pick it up i can see some serious bumper and side wing damage as whoever took it for a joy ride was a new driver. Random but there was a fire extinguisher and a 1.8 carat diamond holder stating a price of £2150:w00t:, *******s also sprayed the car full of the powder from the extinguisher too :S. Really pissed of with the damage but the garage who lost it has agreed to repair and do all work for free. So right now i am thinking abot how to proceed. I am amazed that the police even found the car so deep in a block of houses/flats, i think someone might have reported the car. Also 20% of the other cars i saw had broken glasses no surprise there at all. Seems they only drove just under 30 miles till the petrol was about to finish and they couldn't probably afford to put more in. Also the passenger side window was pushed down and then they broke the key insert, so had to start it with a screw driver myself!!

BiG thanks to all your support and advice!!!! Lov you all!! :P

So if anyone has a OEM UK SPEC front bumper do let me know, was smiling from ear to ear driving it back home :D

Happy days ahead!! Hopefully

Hey Guys,

I need some advice, i gave my car is for some work to a mechanic yesterday. He rang me up today saying that he parked the car on the road and that its gone!!!!:cursing:

Firstly i was pissed of that he would park my car on the road cause he didnt have enough space in his garage and worst of all he is trying to say that he is not liable. When clearly the car was left in his care and is his responsibilty to keep it safe.

What do you guys reckon my options are and is it worth taking it legally??

GUTTED!!!

Please keep an eye out for me!!

Sorry to hear about this.It happend to a mate of mine before(non zed). what my mate found out is that the garage had pranged his car in transit and tryed to say it was stolen. We recovered it from a scrapyard about to get crushed.. I hope this isnt the case for you..lee

sorry to hear that... this was the reason I`ve got mine out of this country...not to be stolen..as I don`t have a house with a garage... and every night the alarm was going off... As for taking it to a mechanic I would only use a trusted service center known by most of the forum members.

Again, I hope they will find your car!

Sorry to hear this mate. Theiving *******s.

The garage is definately liable. As soon as they take the keys from you to perform work they take responsibility. any sign that says "left at owners own risk" can only apply when you "leave" your own car there and take the keys with you.

Your own insurance company could make a claim against the garage. If all else fails take him to court.

If you left a child with a Childminder who is paid to look after it and the child goes missing, it's the childminders fault as you pay them for the service. it's the same with cars.

This is aj's zed its a UK black zed the only thing that sets it apart from others is the alloys

It's just a blanking plate, painted in the body colour mate - UK cars don't have a brake light in the spoiler.....:whistling:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Right well went in again and had a word with the culprit. He doesn't have any insurance whatsoever and he is completely broke. He claims that he has bailiffs knocking on the door for his garage rent etc.

So here are the options I have but they don't give me much hope :(

- So I could report him to fare trade for working without the right type of insurance etc and they would close him down for good, but once again i gain nothing from it at all.

- I could take him to court but the court cost would be much more than the value of the car itself. Even if i win due to his low income he would probably pay in instalments.

- I could claim on the insurance, however not sure how much they would give for the car as they work the value of the car themselves right? So let's say they give me 1500, my premium is 1600 itself and they would keep that if I claim. So once again is there any point?? On top would have to pay an excess too.

So personally i am starting to get the feeling that this is a lost case.

Ahh I am well annoyed by this whole situation, just pisses me off that someone is out there messing with my hard earned money and enjoying MY CAR!!!:gun_bandana:

Now i bet most people think why did i go there, only reason i went to him was due to being really cheap and all my friends go there for the body work and he does good work. So I really doubt he had personally anything to do with this matter. Nevertheless feeling rather frustrated as i type this up!!

So far i have agreed to give the guy a bit of time and see if he can come up with the resources to pay for the car. So i am hoping either the police find the car or he gets some good buisness and gets enough to pay me back.

I am starting to HATE East London!!!

Thank You for your support and words of advice they are much appreciated!!!

whats the garage name pal. really dont want anyone else to suffer the same fate :-( surely something has to be done about you getting your car back though, get the baliffs back on his case i reckon pal. you deserve what your owed!!! really feel for ya pal

Mate his hard luck story ain't your concern and of course your assuming he's telling the truth eh?

Your 1st course of action is HIM. Even if he pays you out, you've lost your Zed ffs.

Keep on at the cops, keep on at him.

How much is your car worth to you?

A hard lesson learnt by using small back street garages with your prized possession, however sadly your not the 1st Zedder in this situation, doubt you'll be the last!

Smithy

Would small claims court not be the way to go as it won't cost you much to do it? What sort of tools/kit does he have in his workshop? Any idea where he lives etc?

added note on insurance when my zed was stolen back in jan got 2800 for it, (less remained of my insurance) they have a value in their books of about 1700 but they have to take current market value into account, so look on auto trader and piston-heads etc and they give you a rough value,

mine was a black jap TT auto*

police are useless, they probably wont even look for it, they will just mark it as stolen and if it appears on an anpr camera they will try to stop it.

Don't give up AJ.....

....this fella may not be insured and may well have bailiffs knocking at the door And may or may not be telling the truth. But if he does not have insurance (and assuming he is not a limited company) then he is personally liable mate!

If you sue the fooker, then surely he has assets? A house or car; tools, personal possessions etc etc......

Don't let him off the hook! Like I said before, your insurers are a good place to start as they will seek to recover anything they have to pay you for the theft from anyone else who may possibly be held liable!

And I know what you mean about East London buddy - I visited my folks on Mothers' Day and I reckon it seems worse every time I go to Leyton!

Agreed Police dont do jack! So no luck with them, i need to find a solicitor and ask for some advice as i am not sure were to start. Never been in this type of a situation myself.

@Gary police are useless, they just add it to the system and thats it.

@Vijay small courts only deal with values up to £750, ok ill give consumer direct a ring and see what they say too.

@Richard thanks for the encouragement, i am not going to give up till i get my money back. Not even sure how you sue someone!!!

I will call my insurerance company up and have a word with them, see if they can follow a case up for me.

Do we have any member who is a lawyer or anything? would be nice to get some advice from the legal side of things!

Guys once again huge thanks for the advice!! its really helped me a lot! I am not going to give up till i get some justice! Not gonna take any shit anymore!!!

good on ya pal, if theres anything we can do , im sure were all willing to help :donatello:

if i was you mate i would get my arse down the town and speak to the chavs, theyre out all night long on the streets and may have seen something, tell them your reward anyone who gives you info that leads to finding it, wasters have minions and followers, normally chavs and if not chavs their mates will know chavs and chavs cant keep quiet if they hear stuff, iv had things go missing before mate, the kids on the streets know whats going on in the block better than anyone, get down the town son.

and before anyone disagrees i am right as i have a few mates who know a few younger chavs and i hear al sorts of stuff that i dont even ask about what goes on where and who does what, i know things about people i have never spoke too

all in the chavs mate they know

and..... name a valuable part on your car that we aint all got on yours and watch ebay daily for that part then if it pops up send a mate to check it out

@Vijay small courts only deal with values up to £750, ok ill give consumer direct a ring and see what they say too.

County Courts deal with claims larger than £750, Have you a valuation of the car? Claims under £5000, are usually allocated as small claims. You can file a claim yourself at the court using an N1 form or online. You will need to fill in a POC (Particulars of Claim) which will outline the details of claim.

If you do use this route, PM me and I will help you do it, as you need to get the details right. I've sent you a link by PM, (I'm not sure if I can post a link to another website) although it is its completely free and will give you important information and help.
