is there a window 'relay'?

trying to get to the bottom of my window fault.

all component parts (both switches and the amp) have been tested working on my white Z.

When fitted to the black Z the passenger window doesnt function from either the drivers switch or the switch in the passengers door. The passenger window lock button isn't depressed.

I unplugged the motor and tried a known working one that I had in the garage and the motor went one way but not the other, leaving me wondering if there is a relay that controls the switchover between up and down?

Does anyone know if this is the case, and if so where abouts it is located?

thanks :confused1:

yep as I was swapping switches around on my black and white one to make sure they were all working.

I've got somewhere today, at least the drivers window opens now but the passenger window wont open whatever I try

in the drivers door there is the main relay in a black box most likely circuit burnt out, prise plastic cover off and you might find its burnt a track out, iff not replace it

thanks rich, but I assume you are talking about the window amp, believe it or not I have several that I tried in my white Z and all operate the passenger window perfectly. but once in the black Z it just doesnt want to know

There are no other relays, the black amp box deals with both windows in that respect, it looks like you must have a wiring issue.

thanks for the input jeff. Will start swapping wiring over from the breaker if I cant pinpoint it, hopefully then it'll fix it!

SORTED IT  :nana2:

the previous owner had electric window problems for ages on this car, today I got them fixed once and for all!

So the drivers window switch was faulty which I knew, but upon checking the passenger wiring and stripped back the plastic sheath to reveal a bullet connector that had come out totally! re-crimped the wire with through-crimps, and now its all good :thumbup1:
