.... for people who know what they are talking about ;)

Right, I'm going to re-build my PC (again) but would like someone to confirm my combination.

I've currently got a Core 2 Quad Q6600 (2.40GHz,1066FSB,L2:2X4MB,rev.G0,4 cores) of which I'm wanting to re-use, along with my current Arctic-Cooling Freezer 7 Pro Heatsink / Fan.

To this I want to add..... the ASUS SKT 775 P5G41T-M INTEL G41 MICRO ATX MOTHERBOARD, along with 8Gb (2 x 4Gb) Kingston 1333 DDR3 4 GB PC3-10600 DIMM RAM.

I've currently got an LG bluRay/HD DVD drive (sata) and am considering adding 2 x 2Tb sata hard drives (to replace my existing 80Gb and 300Gb IDE drives) in addition to my existing sata 80Gb drive (OS/Programmes)

I'm currently running Windows 7 in 32Bit, but am able (and willing) to re-install with the 64Bit version.

Incidentally I use my main TV as my monitor (DVI to HDMI currently, but the new board has dedicated HDMI out) and all sound goes through an optical S/PDIF connection (also dedicated on new board) to my surround system.

Two questions..... 1) As far as I can tell all the components are compatable with each other, so can anyone see any problems? 2) Will I have any problems with upgrading to the 64Bit system, programmes and/or existing files?

TIA

Dave

Thanks Ian, appreciated bud, just got to find the money first :D

does this mean your getting rid of your old set up? my comp is nearly dead. lmao

I would but my current motherboard is playing up (one reason for the change). I did a BIOS update and I think I fooked it up, so it's now a complicated method of loading Windows. So the motherboard is dodgy, the ram is fine (2Gb) as are the two hard drives (once everything has been swapped over and then wipped) So it's not a system as I'm stiil going to use the processor and heatsink.

Mikey, when I get the chance over the weekend I'll post you a link to a small programme you can download and run that'll display all the info on your computer, ie: motherboad type, processor specs, ram etc, it's dead simply to use you simply run it and read the result, which is displayed on the screen. I'd post the link now, but I've forgot what it's called

I've got no problem with the 32Bit system, it's just that it won't reconise ram much above 3Gb, and as I'm already running 2Gb I might as well up it as far as I can all at the same time :D especially as the HDMi output is on-board, and I do a lot of DVD burning and other hungry stuff ;)

Well to be honest I'm not doing as much burning these days, got far too many DVD's, hence the two 2Tb drives. I might as well just store stuff until I get around to watching it :D

im running 3 gig ddr3 1800mhz kingston hyper, q6600 core2quad, 8800gtx x2 in sli, on a asus p5q3 deluxe wifi @n, plugged in my 42" jvc plasma at the moment, usually have it running on a 22" lcd monitor, and win 7 x64, and never had a problem
