Ok any decent legal types here, just popped out to grab some sugar. and when i reversing the car to turn it around, i bumped someone and put a small crease in their rear drivers side wheel arch.

Ive left my number, name reg plate and insurance details.

But in all fairness. the guy was parked on double yellows in a bloody black car, in a not too well light area, his car was also that small (pug 206) it didnt show up in my rear view mirrors. i see a silver one at out of the drivers side, and another silver one out of the passenger side. Ive taken a photo of his reg plate and also the wing area that clearly shows hes parked on double yellows.

Now there is no damage to my car as i wasn't going fast enough to even dent my bumper (around 2 mile an hour) but his has red paint and crease that looks like it will just "pop" out.

Anyone know where i stand on this and if its going to effect my insurance?

hope you get it sorted and cheap, surely you will just pay your excess?

we are not going to go through the insurance mate. shes going to get a quote to repair the damage and do it that way. as i said, its not a whole rear panel she needs, its a tiny crease about 3inches long. near the rear wheel arch, should be able to pop it out with the correct tools with out the need for a respray.

paintless dent repairs start from 60 quid a panel locally to me so expect it to be no more than 100 notes m8.

agreed, though talking on the phone with the girl today, she was more worried about her no claims bonus more than anything. so she is going to be getting a few quotes. if i think shes taking the piss, ill get some as well. as i said its not that bad, i had a look yesterday when it happened. and i know it can be popped out, (not by hand though as i tried) but with out leaving any mark. and the paint is good, not cracked or anything. no stress marks on her paintwork either.

As i said, was driving very slow as the zed is a heavy car and will dent pretty much anything it hits to be honest. lol

Just a couple of things I noticed.

Someone did point this out, but to re-iterate, you only pay excess against comprehensive parts of your policy, so if you hit a wall in your car instead of another car, and you claim to get it fixed on your own insurance, you'll pay excess, likewise if you'd hit her car and there was damage to your own vehicle, you would only pay your excess against the damage to your own car.

Secondly, you don't lose NCD for non-fault claims, unless, there is no third party to claim against, so if she claims from your insurance, you lose NCD, not her, she isn't at fault (Although tbh regardless of the law, she could be deemed at fault for being parked illegally, or it could be deemed `knock-for-knock`, in which case you both lose NCD), however if she was claiming off her own insurance because you'd driven off and she couldn't get your plate and insurance details, she'd lose NCD and you'd be fine, although you'd also be a fugitive from the law! LOL

UPDATE TIME

Well just got off the phone too her, and to be honest i think the garage she went to is trying to sting me a bit, £265 for dent removal and respray plus bumper bracket, wtf, i wasn't even doing faster than 3mph backwards, in fact a pedestrian walking would of over taken me.

Sounds like they are going to respray the entire rear quarter of her car. think I'm going to ask to go with her for a second opinion on this. or just let her go through the insurance. the bumper wasn't even hit, and the damage on the wing where i did hit was minimal and would just pop out if the wheel arch liner was moved out of the way, with out the need for a respray. hell i didnt even damage my car so i know i didnt hit her that hard.

It's not that she's lose her no claims, more the fact that you have to declare an accident and even though its a 'no-fault' it still effects the cost of your premium next time you renew....

Vodkashots....ask for 2/3 quotes as this garage might be related to her?!

Non-Fault claims do NOT affect your premium. You cannot be rated as a higher risk for something that wasn't your fault. The only time a premium is levied against you for a claim, is full or partial liability, OR if you had a LOSS, that's where you were out of pocket from the claim for whatever reason.

the damage to my car last year when i hit the central reservation barrier is close to the cost of what shes had quoted and my damage is a hell of a lot more sever, im going to get her to get a few more quotes to be honest. as that seems like a rip off. and i know i definitely didnt hit her car hard enough to warrant bumper repairs,

I once nudged the back of a BMW in a Citroen Berlingo van in a traffic queue up to a roundabout. Got out and no damage whatsoever, she had tonnes of scratches all down the back of her bumper though that were covered in dirt and quite obviously been there a long time, I took a photo of both the front of my van and the back of her beemer with my phone camera, knowing full well she was going to try and claim for a full respray at my companies expense for her own carelessness previously in causing the scratches.

When the van nudged her, it was a brand new van with a real light clutch, I hadn't even noticed it creeping forward, so I know I wasn't even doing 1mph when I nudged her. Some arseholes are just opportunists!

Sounds about right for a proper shops quote with 10 year garentee on work.

If I were you I would offer to have it sorted and get her to drop the car off and get a mobile dent place to come fix it for £100. Job done.
