Weird hicas indication

Driving back from B&Q today took a sharp left and the Hicas light came on. Go back home and checked the level, a little on the loe side so topped it up with Dextron 3. Started the engine and no warning light - yipee. Turned steering wheel full right lock and still no warning light. Tried it again but to the right and the warning light came on again just before full right lock.

Question..Could this be down to the steering being out of alignment? no noticeable tear wear to suggest so. Comments appreciated.

Shit...Sorry for the spelling mistakes.

Sunray just to check the level sensor which can go tits up,follow the wires that come out of the fluid tank, they are about 6" in length and unplug the the box.

I think I have really lost the plot. What I mean is that on full right lock I get no warning lamp. If I turn the wheel to full left lock, the light comes on just before reaching the maximum lock.

Any ideas?

Could be related to the steering angle sensor.

The sensor could be shot.

Also, if the wheels are out of alignment, so the steering wheel isn't

straight when driving straight, then the HICAS will not function.

I'd just give the wheel a few turns back and forth and re-check the fluid level.

Could just be the way the fluid is pushing air out of the system after getting low?
