Just looked at Baz thread re old money.

HAve you ever found stuff of value that other people didnt know about.

Heres one for you.

At a car boot sale a few years back at Matchams in Dorset. i first saw a nice wooden box in perfect condition, looked like walnut. opened it, my eyes lit up, as there was an old fly fishing wheel inside, on closer inspection, under the velvet was a bill of sale.

AT this point i started shaking, after a bit of haggleing with the old lady, i bought the box and reel for £12.

Had to run to the car, with girlfriend following, she states Stu you only do carp fishing, why have you bought that crappy fly reel.

"Because, this crappy fly reel is an antique hardy fishing centre pin fishing reel."

Of to a local fishing tackle dealer i knew, and walked away with £1200.

The reel was worth about £400-£500 on its own, but due to having all the documentation and the original wooden box, worth double.

WHo else has found what???

In that pack that I found in was literally rammed full of old accounts paperwork, insurance documents, a leather covered notepad that was hardly used (might use it myself lol!) all sorts of receipts and stuff, and deeds and scripts for rent of houses etc etc! was quite nervous when opening it up, had no idea what was in it!

well not really of value, only to the bomb squad, was playing Airsoft over at the old finmere airstrip, when a friend of mine Mat Langston, kicked a live grenade that was covered in bud. he thought it was a imitation one at first. but then realised when he picked it up that it was a real one, he soon put it down, and then we had to wait a good few hours for bomb squad to come and do there thing. was quite amusing to be honest. but hes lucky it didnt go off.

as a child of 8 i went with the family to whitby..playing on the beach with my brother i fell over in the sand and my hands sank in the soft sand and i felt something, stood up and my hand had grasped a ladies 18ct gold watch :)

i once found my dads pron stash when i was a kid, was like a pillow box in twenty mins lol

i have found a lot of old coins hidden in my bosses victorian houses, when i renovate a room we remove the old fire places and hearths, apperently when they built houses years ago they used to bury money in the concrete hearts so if the owner of the house fell on hard times they could dig the money out for a bit of a reserve, ive got about 30 old penny's, but most of the money was buried in the main living room of the house which has yet to be renovated

it hasn't been found yet, but I built a studied wall years ago in my mam's house, and in the wall I put a porn mag, a picture of me and my mate (the plasterer), a daily sport from that day, and a pair of my mam's tights, some lucky lucky person is gonna find them some day... ya never know, they may own a zed and comment on this thread in years to come :) In the same house, i did find about 30 or more manchester united football programs in the loft from the early 80's, and a bunch of wigan athletic ones too, still got them, dunno if they're worth anything... And when i was at primary school, there was a jumble sale thing, and I bought a 1972 airfix model, boxed, mint, of a world war 2 willis jeep and gunner trailer, for a pound, still got that too...

I demolished an old Resturant that had been closed for over 20 years a few years back , on the walls/ceilings and shelves there were old model boats, plaques, brass port holes, everything ship/marine related, The resturant was called `the old ship` I told my ex boss about the finds and he said skip the lot!!!!! so under torch light I carefully removed the treasure off the walls and ceilings, I filled my van twice and took it all home, I spent 2 weeks polishing and mending the items, my first earner was the beautiful port holes, they were about 18" diameter and I had 6 of them, final bid on e-bay was £120 each!!! then the Trafalgar sign, about 6 foot long with big brass letters on saying `Trafalgar` set on a mahogany piece of timber!! I stuck it on e-bay and within a few hours I had 18 watchers! it stayed on £105 for a week and on the last few seconds it shot up to £680!!! Fookin hell, I couldnt belive my eyes!! I had another plaque (i cant rememeber the name its on the tip of my tounge) a small island just off Bristol somewhere? but anyway that got another £300 I still have loads of bits and bobs left over, pictures, models, plaques and will sell them on when i have time, a lot of the stuff was crap and damaged but the money was really nice and paid for new windows at my house!!

I found this thing up in the loft it had been there for years it was copper & large so I took it to the auction it turned out to be my water tank lol ....:w00t:
