Changing turbos on 300zxTT

Hi guys,

I'm gonna be changing my turbos on my 91TT and was wondering if it was possible to simply fit a pair of T28 units from the S14 200sx and also if it would be worth going down this route as the cost of the labour charge for changing turbos is obviously rather a large one!!

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

dude,

The T28 is a possibility on the turbo front not sure if the ones from a S14 would mate up to the manifold of a Z correctly maybe one of the 200 boyz might know !

T28's have a very good ultimate HP rating but take a long time to delive it due to there size.

Note to make use of them you will need bigger fuel and Cooling and the AFR to match.

Please please buy it - im gettin desperate now god damit !!!

The 300 turbos are handed so you can't just bung a pair of 200sx jobbies on. What some places do is rebuild the 300 casings with T28 internals.

SE do a hybrid turbo using a combination of sx200 and skyline. They have to modify it to fit the Z. i've got it. works well.

Be careful when changing turbos as it is a black art and can play havoc with your lag time and bhp and driveability. Also talk to turbo technics.

i have FULL SPEC T28S on my car. But there are many variations around.

They are very lagy turbos but give great top end power. You will have to make changes to themanifold to get them on, and this can prove costly.

There are kits out there already that you can use.

Pentroof, JWT make some nice blowers.

I would not touch anything in this country as the companys in the uk speak for them self when it ocmes to service and prices (in other words kak)

excellent guys thanks very much for all of your input.

I defininately DO NOT wanna lose too much of my bottom end (ooooh matron nooo) torque,so i'm probably gonna have a look at trying to find some sort of larger turbo with a quick spool up,so i'm guessing i'll be looking at a hybrid type unit???

The fuelling will be fine as i have 550cc Nismo injectors and a re-programmable ignition system to play with too!!

Air flow will be fine as i have MAP sensors rather than an air flow meter.

cooling will be ok as i have a charge cooler and water injection!

300Z, who did you get to do the turbos on your car and how much did it cost in total, just wondered so i have a rough guide as to how much i'm gonna have to sell my internal organs for to pay for it!!!!Gonna have to find sum renewable source as i'm fast running out of parts to sell.......Sperm donation, hmmmm maybe not????
