blue smoke out the left bank

Just had a straight through exhaust fitted (cat back) on my ukTT, and noticed blue smoke out the left bank whilst idling, it does dissappear if gently revved and doesn't re-appear until I come to idle again. Also just noticed recently that the oil pressure seems a little higher than normal, say nearly half way on the gauge at motorway speeds (80,90mph) and well over the first mark while cruising. Could this be related and any ideas on what impending doom is lurking round the corner?? cheers Jon....

I'm 300ZDING across the Universe, only going forward cause i cant find revearse :D

ohh dear!!

Any idea what would cause the higher oil pressure though??

cheers Jon....

Ohh and how much are we talking for rebuilt turbo's??

I wouldn't worrry too much about the oil pressure - the gauges are rubbish.

New/recon turbos are not too expensive (few hundred) fitting then is the tricky and expensive bit!

Having just had an engine rebuild and new turbos mine started doing exactly the same thing from the left side. My guess was turbo oil seal. It is back in for the repair under warrenty at the moment. If it turns out to be somthing else I will let you know.

Jonny, it does sound like the start of seals going, in time it will get worse, depends how much you boot it, this is a common problem with our Zeds as they rely so much on the back prseeure to keep the seals intact.

Steve r, if you had your turbo's rebuilt, did you advise the company of any mods done to car ? when ever you buy new or recon turbo's make sure you tell em, that you have decatted and running larger exhaust system, it is very easy to pay a few bucks more and have race spec stagger gap rear piston seals fitted to turbo's to prevent this happening, otherwise the only other option is to fit the dreaded breather kit with new turbo's.

have a look at my site www.cybercraft.co.im in the turbo section.

Ok, Smithy can you give me an idea of price for both turbos with the staggered gaps for the rear seals please. Also would fitting a breather kit help with the problem?? oh and where can I get one from??

cheers
