currently having hicas issues, for some reason at speed, the rear wheel steering activates, now, is there a way to disable the hicas, until i get the driftworks elimination kit.

Featured Replies

How do you mean it activates , the rear end feels wobbly? If so then its likely due to worn hicas steering arm joints or worn rear shock absorbers.

The Hicas is a mid-high speed handing aid that turns the rear wheel in a certain direction by up to 1degree, dependng on your speed and steering angle.

apaprantly all joints and bushes are fine, ( had new poly bushes about a year ago and new coilovers)

what basically happens is about 60 odd, the steering wheel degree increases more and more as speed does, without vibration or resistance, and the car steering straight.

a guy disconnected a plug at the hiscas unit (under the bonnet) a few hours ago then the steering wheel degree problem stopped, but im not sure this is the correct method to 'disable the hicas'

so would prefer a firm answer.

thanks in advance.

I've got an NA power steering pump if you wanted to go down that route?

dont want to fit anything at the moment, just want to 'deactivate it'

BUMP

Sounds like you've deactivated it already. The plug to pull is the grey connector ontop of the main HICAS unit in the engine bay. It'll bring on the hicas light, but all you need to do is just pull the bulb.
