now, with the car stationary, it blows cold air, once it gets moving or engine is put under load ( revved up) hot air blows, what could cause it to blow cold? also though when its 'Hot' its never really that hot, more of a warm air....

 

any ideas?

The valve of the heater matrix opens when it gets to the temperature its set at. If once the car is warmed up and you set it a say 25 deg, once the water in the system has reached this temp the valve will open. However once youve become stationary, the temp of the water is cooled by the rad and the valve will close, blowing colder air.

 

Once the car is fully warmed up, ie a long run then the core temp is higher than you have set on the pod and therefore if set at 25deg you will continue to get heat even when stationary.

 

To get the best out of your heater, make sure the rad is bled with the car on a slight incline ( front end raised) and get all air out of the system. Air in the system will effect the heat through the matrix.

 

At worst the heater matrix may be on its way out. HTH

rad and heater matrix have been replaced within the last 3 months..... even after a long drive, as soon as it stops, COLD AIR. and even at 40 its not 'hot'

definately sounds like it needs a bleed . valve on the left hand side of rad as groover said best done with front end raised .

You would get hot at 26, will take a long time getting 40 degrees out of it lol.

 

I would suggest bleeding with it set at 26 with the engine warmed up obviously and get the air out. If you have tried it before at 40, then i think the valve to the matrix wouldnt have been opened and not all the air would have been bled.

aup mate quick queston i had a leak on my heater matrix thats sorted now but my heaters keep goin warm then cold and the heater guage does the same the rad does the same to on idle goes cold push the revs warms back up :s 1 min im over heating next its goin back down some times it hold the water in the rad some times its drinkin it for fun and bubbling coming from pas side if i park up for like 20min let it cool down i get about half hour with red hot heater then it goes again ..:crying: can any 1 help me plzzzzzzzzzz

If the temp starts rapidly climbing and falling it's usually because the sensor is reading air temp then, water temp, then air temp etc etc. Sounds like you need to find the source of your water leak. I'm pretty sure you'd realise if the head gasket was gone, but maybe your bottom radiator hose is leaking due to deformation created by the vacuum from your engine cooling? JeffTT covered this in a thread not too long ago. I too have also had a problem with water mysteriously disappearing, but it no longer does it! Best thing is too keep a very close eye on your water level. Check it every time you drive the car, until you fully understand how much is being used, otherwise it could cost you a fortune to fix instead of just replacing a hose etc..

Could be thermostat jammed open or water level too low.

ConZult check would prove thermostat one way or the other.

no pipes are leaking as far as i no its not shooting up with fast speed its very slow build up ive bin checking my rad the water as lost about half a pint since ive just filled up and started it touch the engine just a min ago its hot every thing gets hot but the rad :S im spinning out so bad cause crnt find the problem >>>>??? ;(

i think its the thermostat to tell truth think its not stuck but playin upp cause 1min it works fine every thing runns perfect go for 20 min or so its cold air again and rising guage

ohhhh yeh 1 more thing ?????????????? my heaters when put it down to 14 15 its still red hot and revs high put it on econ it all goes cold and revs come back dwon :S ?? this normal
