Can anyone tell me how to recover or read deleted text messages from an iphone 3gs. I have seen the guides about doing a restore etc but can't seem to get them to work or is there a way to find them when the phones plugged into a laptop?

when you sync your iphone to itunes it always takes a back up, if you have text messages and deleted them after you last pluged your phone into itunes, you will lose these for good. if you didnt have any text messages since your last plug in. plug your iphone in and you should be able to restore your iphone from a choise of backups its stored on your device. that is the only way i know of getting back deleted messages on a iphone 3gs
