pull over

car seems to pull to left...

had tracking checked twice (all 4 wheels) and all as should be; may be paranoid but seems to be getting worse and steering doesn't feel right - any ideas?

Robb,

Have you checked your near side brakes,if it's pulling to the left it's probably stuck on.Take out the pads and clean up all the seatings, also check all the wheel nuts for the same torque.

Hope this helps..........

Also check for stuck caliper pistons. On mine the font wheels were both tight to spin when jacked off the ground. Should spin freely. Probably affecting fuel consumption too. Some complaining of lousy brakes here are more than likely to have only 2 of the four pistons in each caliper actually doing anything. With them in proper condition Z brakes are actually pretty good.

Also with dragging brakes you find almost no drag when cold but as the car is driven they heat up and drag more and more.

One car I had before with this problem, also with four piston calipers, used to get so bad you had to stop to let it cool. If you took a look at the front wheel on the dragging side you could see the disc glowing red hot!

T3RBO - check that it really is pulling left. Sounds daft but I thought mine was for ages; then I realised it was pulling 'down'; i.e. on a normal camber road (centre higher than the edges) it pulls left slightly, on a flat road it's neutral and on a reverse camber road it pulls right slightly. I only really noticed it on mine driving round north Wales where some of the roads are at all angles going through the hills. Not driven my Zed for a while and noticed it again when I got back in, but have got used to it and ignore it now.

If anyone else knows this is a fault on mine too then please let me know!!!

I presume your tyre pressures are OK.

I get this when the pressure is really down.

Try swapping you front wheels around see if pulls to opposite way, if does dodgy tyres, oh and don`t leave them that way if the tyres/ wheels are directional.

replaced rear tyres(had huge nail in one tyre that couldn't be fixed, so did both but they were fairly bald anyway) and it seems slightly better - will check brakes and lastly try front swap...

cheers robb
