Similar to the thread the other day however my claim has come back and they are going to replace my broken one. Now the insurance company are using a firm to replace it who are searching for a similar spec to the one i had. Feel like im being shafted straight away as they are not worth as much as i paid for mine new but anyway.

Here is what they have come up with that is similar to my spec

Are acer a good make or could i use another manufacturer that will be more expensive but on the same kinda spec?

I dont like Intel chips or Dell computers hence why im going for AMD

Or can i tell the insurance company to give me a cheque cos i dont like what this company has found me?

I already have a £125 excess to pay and if i want a better one i have to make up the difference.

Please dont just recommend your laptop as the sepc needs to be similar

Cheers

Having just gone through a claim myself for the very same thing I was lucky that I got offered a Toshiba Satellite Pro as my old ones replacement.

You are not getting shafted at all because you are getting a brand new laptop for same or greater spec than the one you broke. Although £125 excess is yucky I only paid £50.

You really should go for an Intel Laptop as they dominate AMD, you can refuse that laptop and ask for another but they will all be around the same spec. I refused an Acer because they blow chunks and was very happy when the Tosh was offered.

We have 3 Acer laptops, the one I am using right now the 5732Z is a fantastic laptop, with 4gb ram, a 500gb hdd, and have had no trouble with this or the other two we have.

However, take a look at these: -

:detective:

They wont give me either of them as they are not close to my spec. It isnt about cost with them its about matching my old spec.

I may go for a Intel chip them everyone seems to be using them them i just dont like how years ago they hiked up the prices when AMD chips were half the price and out performing them with gaming i did have a Toshiba satellite pro which is the one i broke
