My mums got a sportka and its been leaking coolant from above the water pump. She found this on the drive yesterday and not sure if its anything to do with it, I've not really seen under the bonnet of ka's before but I dont recognise the part from any other car, maybe someone on here does? :detective:

cheers guys :confused1:

that's part of a suspension spring that's snapped off mate, is the car sitting wonky at all? might not be off the Ka, but i would definately examine all four corners...

agreed, snapped of coil section.

Deffo part of a coil spring. BMW's are also favourite for breaking the same - my E46 has done it at least twice.

On the Yamaha engine used in smaller ford models the usual culprit is the thermostat housing on the front of the engine. Its plastic and splits.Seen a couple like it.Right pain to get at if the car has air con.

thanks for the input on this guys, thought I'd update it...

It was part of the spring that had broken off, and jimmer was right by saying it was the thermostat housing that was causing the leak! (or 'coolant box' as they called it!) :thumbup1:
