DYNAMIC DAMPENER

Anybody know what this part actually does, it's listed in the engine mechanical section of the cd manual it sits behind the rear gearbox mount (maunal only). I wondered whether this could be faulty causing car to jerk on and off the gas ( feels like the engine/gearbox are loosely connected, or maybe it could be the shifter bushing under the console???

Anybody have any ideas, cheerzzzz....
