smokey zx

Hi Guys,

My 300TT has been off the road for 6/7 months.I took it for an MOT the other day It failed the emmision test. When its cold no smoke from the exhaust. When it warms up both sides start smoking. It was fine before I laid it up and the only thing I have done since is fit a mongoose exhaust.

Help!!

Featured Replies

What colour is the smoke? Grey, blue, black, white?

White would be coolant/condensation burning off, normal for the first 10 mins or so

Grey/Black indicates that the car is running very rich - the exhaust will smell of fuel, if that's the case, a) give the car a good blast to clean off the crap from the O2 sensors, and b) try the emissions trick

Blue - oil. Probably oil seals have shrunk back over the time that the car has been standing, see if a good run & oil change will bring the seals back to life (keep your fingers crossed) and fatten them back up to seal.

i curently have in stock a full range of

of addatives just got the right product for

your somke

the product softens all rubberized seals

with in the engine, makes them all nice and supple again

IMHO, I would be very wary of any addatives to the engine oil of our cars. The viscosity of oil can have a dramatic effect let alone some of the compounds in these 'pour in' tins.

Nothing personal Phil, just my opinion.

Tim

ive seen the results on my own z its good stuff

the motor flush is the best on sale it has more lubrication quality than mobel 1 ive seen it tested

it doesnt contain any ptfe

im doing a full system flush and addative

service tomo to another z

also ask mark (fingerpig) hes totaly pleased

with his after the auto gearbox treatment says its as smooth as he can remember when he first got the car "like new"

Phil again wihtout prejudice

I dont use engine flush or any other such products - why ?

Not only for what tim said - But you are flushing deposits - from where - to where thru what ?

Think about it - Do you want to turn a noisy lifter Etc into a burnt / bent valve ? Again just my opinion of course !

so is engine flush a bad idea??? I just used some with my last oil change. A mechanic friend said it would be ok on my milage (65 odd k), but for high milage engines, don't use it.
