Wheel clamping

****ing sh*tty ****wit ****ers

................

Do we have anyone that really knows their stuff on Wheel clamping rules/regulations ?

Independent SIA licenced company, on private land.

Basically I need to know if there are specific rules that detail that Clampers must be available to release your car when you contact them to pay.

I cant find jacksh*t on the internet about current regulations in that regards.

A7.1 Drivers whose vehicles have been immobilised or

removed must be able to recover their vehicles at all

reasonable times. Operators should aim to make an

immobilised vehicle available to the owner as soon as they

have paid. The target time for this is within one hour of

payment, and no more than two hours of payment, unless

the vehicle is in a car park or car pound that is closed.

ahhh, Thanks :)

I can see "reasonable times" being a loophole for them.

I discovered i was clamped at 5:30pm last night in my Uni Car park. Spent 1hr30mins trying to get through to them. When I eventually did at 7pm I was told builders had knocked out there phoneline and they just had BT divert it.

When I then tried to pay I was told payment had to be made at the car, not over the phone, and nobody will be available till 11am the next day.

I would chop it off.......... No time for them me personally, would do it in a heart beat and face the consequences later, (which would be criminal damage BTW)... Depending on the size of the company, they may not follow it up...

i have to agree with tudor on this one, if its not DVLA sod them, cut it off, and take it to the police and say, sorry but I've done some criminal damage. rather than just running. it will go down better as you have openly admitted it lol ooh, take the lock off, so most you would have to pay is the £8 for the replacement.

I was very very tempted....proper rageing, .....problem is its a carpark I need to use everyday. Consequences would definatly bite me.

Car is still clamped atm. Its 50miles away from home and today is my dayoff, with other plans. Rang them and told them I will be there tomorrow to sort it out (to make sure they dont tow it).

if its a car park you use regularly, why did they clamp it? do they have adequate signs up? if they don't, its daylight robbery and you can take it off your car.

Clamped for an unpaid parking charge in same car park from 14days earlier :x:

Its all proper signposted, as much as it pisses me off it seems they are legally allowed to clamp me for it, but ****ign rediculous that unable to remove it that day.

If I did'nt need to park there again I would of cut the thing off. Had a bit of a go at first but the chain is wrapped around my suspension arms and had no cutting tools on me.

Intending to Pay then make official complaint and appeal through my University who contract the clamping firm.

In the end our very own Murt came to the rescue and gave me a lift home (a 100mile round trip for him !), he's a legend  , and Im goign to have to a catch train in tomorrow...I dont do public transport ffs.

Annoyingly I discovered there is a new government Freedom bill which will ban clamping on private land except for dvla or Council authority clampers and it will revoke all SIA licenses. It was due to come out this month, but has been pushed back till early next year ! :(

Does it state how long yu have to pay the first fine? Cos normally its half price for the first 14 days then goes full price?

I'm sure they cant act that quickly on an unpaid fine.

don't cut any thing...."criminal damage" do what i done when my dad got clamped.....the guy threatened to call the tow truck if he didn't pay instantly (was working at the restaurant...busy Saturday night, so he couldnt) when the guy left i simply got a hammer and beat the shit out of the padlock (preferably on the side that opens up) and it will pop out :D still got the clamp in the garage.

You could leave the clamp there of course so you wont get done for anything :p

would be really cool to clamp the guy that comes to take the money off ya. have a m8 sneak round his vehicle and pop a clamp on whilst hes releasing yours :-) im sure you can get clamps fairly cheap

it will be cheaper to pay a locksmith to unpick the lock and hand them the whole thing undamged andthere is not at thing theycan do aboutit as you are actually paying for the service of removing the clamp..it will costyou around 150 quid to pay the clampers and around 50 for a lock smith
