The idea is to try to capture the Tyne Tunnel Run this weekend from my point of view.

Was just an idea to see if it'd work, I used the seatbelts to anchor two if the tripod legs to the back seat as you can see in the image and a cable tie to secure the leg at the front to the seatbelt arms on both the front seats, the whole thing seems very tight and secure free from movement, I'm hoping with the two tripod legs being on the back seats it'll take the shock and minimise vibration or shaking.

I'm going to give it a test run Saturday morning to see if it'll work ok without any shaking etc, if it does shake or vibrate about then I won't bother.

If it does work then I'll get the video up soon after for you guys who couldn't make it.

Also if anyone thinks this is illegal for some reason, please say so lol.

its suprising how shaky it caan be without a proper mount, but gotta be worth a try!

probably get taken as a disguised police car !

assuming your camera has a screw mounting point somewhere, maybe zip tie or gaffa tape a strut between the two front seats, then mount the camera in the middle?

Looking forward to the video!

you can get suction pads so you can stick it to glass. pop it on inside of your targa and its perfect ;)

give it a go and see,

might not be too bad. would make great viewing! Most important thing IMO is to get the sound right, afterall - not much point on goin on a tunnel run if you cant hear nowt!

Fingers crossed it works:rockon:

When I went around the Nurburgring, I used an adapted Satnav cradle, and a mobile phone camera.

Simples.

nice idea, i was just going to get my passenger to hold my cammera.

targas off????

If it's a clear night then yes the targas will be off, but might have to modify a muffler for the microphone to reduce air noise.

I think it might fall over like that or it will be a very shakey picture best with someone to hold it or if no passenger can it be wedged between the headrest and seat.

Securing the camcorder under the passenger headrest was plan B if this doesn't work.

Yeah I only had this idea yesterday, so obtaining the proper gear might be a little difficult now, I'll see how the trail run goes.

If it's a clear night the targas will be off so thats that idea scuppered, but nice idea though.

Maybe if I can get a hold of something like that I could hang it from the rear window pointing forward.

Yeah I imagine the sound might be obscured by air noise if I have the targas off, so after I try it before hand it's clear theres air noise I'll try to fabricate a muffler that I can stick over the mic.

I knocked this up when i knew we were gonna have a blast around Donnington at Japfest a few years ago , worked a treat .

That looks awesome, just wish I had thought of this earlier, I could have knocked up something like that.

Thanks for all the input fellars, I'll see how the trial run goes and hopefully my half arsed efforts will produce some entertaining veiwing, I'll get back with how the trail run goes fingers crossed.

Trial run today went better than I expected, was a bit shaky on some rough road surfaces resulting in slight blurring, but still very good.

I had to remove my rear view mirror because that was directly in the view.

So I'll go ahead and use it for the run tonight then.
