How long will it take to change clutch?

I need to change my clutch asap and need a rough time estimate for changing it or a cost , so i can guage how much i should be paying.

I saw your other post about your clutch from the states and was about to ask you the same thing.

I am interested in the cost too.

Hi Warren,

I reckon around 7 hours - but a garage should be a lot quicker - maybe half the time.

This is approximately how long it took to get mine off, and the steps involved:

1. remove exhaust - 1 hour

2. remove heat shield and prop shaft - 30 mins

3. remove tranny (including starter, clutch slave cylinder - 2 hours

4. remove clutch - 5 mins (nine bolts)

5. remove flywheel 5 mins (you'll want this skimmed ready for your new clutch)

But, I've yet to do the reverse. The biggest problems I encountered, was seized bolts on the exhaust downpipes, and removing the top two bolts from the tranny - nightmare!

Hope this helps

it took me 16 hours of groveling on the floor it took the longest to get it back in to place wit it been heavy and been just on axle stands.

Warren,

my local Nissan dealer (Reynolds, Southport) charged me 4 hours labour (£160) to fit my ACT clutch. It took them the best part of a day to do it, but they still only charged me the 4 hours.

Dave
