tried a few places but any recomendations, reg transfers never reply to me:taz: and i guess this would be the better bet to get a genuine valuation!

Had values of over 1k from other less known sites but i think thats to high!!

I've had a few valuations of plates that i have which i wanted to sell for me and members of my family, and places like Regtransfers put a far too high price on em:

A4 PDA - £1000

A8 DJA - £1000

A2 NJA - £1000

and wait for it..... DA 99 - £16000!!!!

Guess what - no enquiries at those prices.

Realitically i have looked at similar plates to the first 3 and to replace would cost about £3-500. (including all the added costs)

I am looking to buy a plate for the missus P22 PEE (pee pee) and it is going for £189 on regtransfers (but with transfer cost etc it is going to be about £350 i think.)

Most plates with a letter first then a number folllowed by 3 letters seem to be between £189 - £300 before all the transfer and registrations costs.

Get a reasonable plate from DVLA for £250

But i have stus [smw] old car and he would like the plate back on his beemer

Hence trying to get a reasonable cost of its value:thumbup1:

what i dont get is....if he bought the number plate 5years ago why does he have to buy it back from the current owner of the car?? Doesn't the plate still belong to him or did he sell it on.

if u dont remove it b4 sale, then it becomes the property of the new owner. i thinkkkkkkkk.lol

It does.

Its the cars, not the owners.

unless it's worth something to you, then give it back to him providing he covers the costs.

You bought the car, not the plate.

The car has changed hands 3 times since stu had it! and the original sale had a condition that stu could get the plate back, but that never happened.

Typically those style of plates cost approx £300 from the DVLA. Now since it means something to Stu only and doesn't have a broader appeal I would suggest this is a fair price.

Ignore valuations from number plate dealers, they always quote vastly inflated prices.

Not really, he bought the car and the plate belongs to the car.

The "agreement" that Stu gets the plate back was from the first sale, this is now a few more sales down the line.

Agreed, but the plate obviously means something to Stu, so if the plate can be changed without too much fuss, and Stu ensures that he covers all costs and perhaps a bit extra to sweeten the deal, I would have to say that i would be looking at the lower end of what people have been saying (ie a couple of hundred quid)

On the other hand; supply and demmand and all that if Yewcheck wants to make a bit on top, then he is entitled to do so as he did not make the original arrangement of giving back said plate.

I am sure that something amicable can and will be sorted out between the 2 of them.

Yeah I'm sure it will get sorted, like you say why should Yewcheck give away a £600 plate that he has bought? And also its very well known Stu wanted the plate back before the first sale.

There s always a middle ground :)
