A few weeks ago we noticed the ceiling was stained in the dining room below the bathroom, then it started sagging so I pierced a hole in it and out came a few litres of water lol.

After removing the bath panel only find it was hiding a multitude of sins, there were leaky pipes and towels shoved down there so seems like an old problem that has raised its head again.

Anyways tracked the leak down to cracks in the grout so spent fahookin ages scraping the old shite out and put fresh grout in. Covered it over and kept it dry for 72hrs.

Looked today and the friggin new grout has cracked in the upper line of the tiles directly above the bath! am I doing something wrong? what would cause this?! :cursing: My mate also put white silicon around the tap body as that was passing water too, that silicon has also cracked. WTF is going on? :sneaky2::helpsmilie:

Movment in the bath causing the grout to crack between bath and tiles you need to make shure the bath is well supported

ie; loose some weight Baz :tt2:

Yeah as said above make sure the bath legs are all adjusted properly and then fill the bath with water before grouting/silicone and leave until set.

Sounds like the floor beneath the bath has got wet too, and the legs/feet

are sinking into it, making the bath tub move slightly.

Is it a chipboard floor?

Thanks guys will have to check the legs and floor underneath them.

I know when sealing the bath you have to half fill it to allow for movement but didn't realise it'd be the same for the grouting.

How am I supposed to leave the bath full until it sets if its the only bathroom and is used daily?! :(

you have to put it in before you go to bed and leave it over night

grout should dry hard within a few hours, only thing is though if its damp behind the tiles then it will take ages to dry properly, also if you cover it it will never dry and try and use powder grout rather than ready mixed as the powder goes off quicker
