iv just got a violin and im trying too learn but damm its harder than i thought this is the song im wanting to learn

does anybody else play violin and can you give me any pionters(i have a degree in music performance and premotion but i play guitar bass and drums.

i thought coz i have experience with said strings this would be a walk in the park but alas its harder than i thought.

Have you got a top quality bow? It makes the world of difference, And study very hard at pictures/videos of pro's on how and at what sort of angle they hold the bow at. I seem to remember that just a little bit off with the "angles" soon gets it screeching!,

 

Why have you chosen the violin mate? it must be one of the hardest "common" instrument to play? I play, or played rather, the piano and the guitar (guitar not so good at, never got into it) I got grade 6 (i think, mayby 7) on piano, could only get to 4 on violin before i ran out of talent! lol

that's played on a cello, and there's more than one aswell...

the first time i heard these guys was watching an episode of (i think it was) Russia's got talent(it was somewhere that way) and a young woman was telling the story of the holocaust using sand and a light box set to Apocolypta's version of Metallica's Nothing else matters :punk::clap::clap:

finland got talent

i know its cello's but you can transcribe it to violin the melodey is so buitiful it needs to be played

i think my bow is rubbish either that or iv put to much rosin on it

That's a cello and viola mate....still...I used to play violin and viola...managed grades 6 and 7 respectively (8 on the sax). Haven't touched any of them for a while though!

 

my advice would be to fork out for a few lessons to get the basics down. You could probably teach yourself after that but without the basics it'll be very very hard indeed.

 

I played for over 10 years and performed around the country with the county youth orchestra....happy times!

I did the violin at primary school, hated it, got pretty good tho, but haven't touched one since i was about 10, just use a keyboard and a violin sound :)
