This happens if your ECU chip is not installed correctly, or if perhaps it's been changed and is is not compatible - but then the car won't start either !

Also, may happen if the temp sensor is knacked. Have you done an ECU diag ?

start by cleaning the connector on the temp sensor, it's a common problem. (There are 2 sensors on the front coolant pipe, one for the ecu and one for your gauge)

Classic temp sensor connection sympton...try this first...

Thanks for the swift reply Guys. I have just had a new ECU put on. The car runs fine but this bloody fan is on all the time. I have cleaned the temp sensor a few monts back but must admit that the sensor it'self looks a bit knackered. Have ordered and new one thanks to your advice. It was only £18.00 surprisingly. I got a new connection from Mike at MJP a few weeks back so will be a good opportunity to fit that at the same time. Nissan said that they could not supply just this connector and I would need to get the whole wiring loom at a cost of £380.00 + vat. (turds!!!!). I hope this will sort the problem.

Simon, as your Uni-chip should not be inside the ECU, have this checked, as far as i know the Uni-chip interupt signals being sent from ECU, so the chip is somewhere else, have it looked at and checked by a laptop, smithy
