I was at work yesterday - manic as usual. Grabbed a coffee & went out the back for a quick break from it all & started to text my girlfriend.

Half way through texting my right arm started going dead & dropping down. I had to really concentrate to hold my phone! Put the phone on the wall where I was standing & started to feel really odd

I lost complete feeling in my arm & it just dropped down. Then started rising up & down on its own

I then turned round to look at my phone & everytime I looked at it the phone started to rotate 180deg on the wall - OK, by now I'm freaked out thinking WTF is going on?! Everything else was normal, no blurred vision or anything else moving just my phone rotating on the wall & my right arm dead - in fact I couldnt even see it kind of like my arm wasnt there!

Put my coffee down I was holding with my other hand on the wall & looked at phone - still rotating! I looked back at my cup on the wall & it jumped off the wall & smashed on the floor! (no, really! I wouldnt believe it either!).

This passed & I headed back into work - my friend started talking to me & although I could hear him it sounded like he was talking in another language - it was just garbage that I couldnt understand!

Took a breather outside & he came to check to see if I was ok. This passed & I headed back inside. Walking back into my office I felt it again, arm went dead & felt really strange

He took me to sit in our tea room & as I walked in I felt paralized & just couldnt move or talk at all!

Anyway they phoned an ambulance thinking I was having a stroke & ended up in Hospital yesterday for every check under the sun - blood checks, ECG scan, brain scan etc.

Everything checked out OK thankfully (no tumors or blood clots on the brain etc) but has left me with this episode that has no real explaination! Possibilities from the doctor is a partial epileptic siezure, blood loss to the brain or a series of mini strokes. It could be the start of something or I may never have this ever again!

With regards to the phone rotating & cup jumping off the wall I can only think that my "dead" arm was moving the phone & knocked the cup off the wall but my brain simply didnt register it!

Anyone had anything similar?! Or am I just a lone freak?!

Its left me feeling pretty dazed & confused about it all!

I havent had the dead limbs lol, but for the past 2 weeks i have an inner ear viral thing, which makes you feel dizzy everytime you move your head, sometimes nausea too. Its a horrible feeling and scary at first, now im just getting sick of it.

I very rarely get ill, but it seems when i do, it happens big time lol

Hope its nothing serious and doesnt happen again.

Cheers bud - it was really strange - everything was normal to start with apart from these really specific things, it was like something in my brain had just short circuited for a while! Didnt feel sick, no pain, just really odd things happening!

holy crap Paul that must have been scary! glad you checked out ok though - where do you work? any toxic gases escaped, or did someone slip an LSD in your coffee (a half-serious question)?

Flippin 'eck Paul - I hope you're Ok mate!!

Whilst not as bad as that, I had a few episodes back in 2001/2. Suddenly I'd get chest pains, dizziness, a racing pulse and breathlessness; once the dizziness went and I caught my breath, I'd still have the racing pulse for a good few hours afterwards.

I thought the worst - heart attack, stroke etc. I had all kinds of tests, ecg etc, but nothing showed up. The for some reason I stopped drinking coffee (I'd always liked an espresso or two; or a good strong freshly filtered type during the day) and the problem disappeared.

So I have cut out virtually all caffiene and nowadays I don't suffer at all. My GP and the cardiologist put it down to me developing an intollerance to caffiene. I am OK with tea (I stick to Earl Grey though) and now indulge in the occasional decaf coffee; but I did try a glass of diet Coke recently and sure enough I felt like shite for a couple of hours afterwards.

I hope your issue is something simple like that too buddy - and I wish you better!

Richard:chef:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

its amazing what a bit of caffine can do, i sometimes drink a lot of tea and after too much i start too feel very strange i describe it as being there in person but not in mind lol

hope it isnt anything much bud, i think the worse thing is not knowing what has caused it

That's called dehydration from to much caffine lol!

had an episode once where i stood up and felt very light headed, and very drunk but sober. kind of hard to explain, only happened twice, but kinda freaks you out though, the other thing I've had happen was getting heart palpitations after too much coffee, had an ambulance out twice for that till we tracked it down to caffeine

Cheers guys! :)

I really dont think it was the coffee! LOL! I only had a couple of sips & dont really drink that much throughout the day. Made it myself so no chance of an acid trip LOL!

It really was the most bizzare experience I have ever had - its not like I didnt know what was going on either, it really was like "WTF IS GOING ON?!?!"

possession is another possibility offered by our daughter or a telekinetic episode by my girlfriend

I think its those goddam aliens that I dont believe in!! :alien::lol:

Quite a surprising thread this , as last week I went to see my doctor after waking up and feeling shit at 7.30am with a very high heart rate and palpitations, He looked worried and sent me to A&E as an emergency!!!! I fookin shit myself as I`ve never been in hospital before (hate them) I went straight into a bed in A&E and was wired up to a heart machine, had blood tests and a chest x-ray!! I really thought i was a gonner(very strange what goes through your mind when put in a situation like this), rang my girlfriend and she came straight away, VERY Scary but after 4 hours they let me go and said i was fine ,fit and healthy!!! just really recovering from the shock still now i think, but feel much better, I do and have done for the last 4/5 years suffer from panic attacks? I dont know why, I hate them, It makes me very unsociable sometimes and I panic about having a panic attack!! But after reading this I think its just confirmed my previous suspision that too much caffene/sugar intake may set me off!!!

I was going to start a threat last week about panic attack to see if anyone else gets them because they do really piss me off and no matter how many times you have one you always think it`s the end , yeh DEAD!!

If you dont have panic attacks then the symptoms are, normally, sweaty palms, high heart rate, dizzy, lightheaded, beathlessness, fear, feel sick, need to get out of where you are( a sort of clostrophobia) and mostly come from nowhere, in my car, house, work, but normally in front of some one who your are unfamiliar with and its very emabarrasing, but most people dont realise you are having a panic attack, I`ve tried to learn how to get over them but its very hard, but i will

So if you do get these symptoms belive it or not you are just having a panic attack and not a heart attack!!! its hard to get the brain in gear that you will be ok, but for me they last about 10 mins/ 1 hour. normally triggered off by stress and now I belive too much caffiene

Daz.

It sounds like a TIA (transient ischaemic attack) - these can be precursors to an actual stroke - consider it you body's way of telling you to take it easy!

If you drink or smoke or are overweight or very stressed, then its your opportunity to change something in order to try to prevent this happening again.

will give you more information - go down to the part which says symptoms of a TIA

Hope you're feeling better now and that you never have another one!!

Ha ha prove it :innocent:

On a flight earlier this year, I was sat between my wife and a Canadian stranger, the meal was served and I did start it but could feel myself becoming unwell, it built up and up, had a great feeling of sickness, head was pounding, wanting to lie down and curl up, said to wife I am not well, she asked what's wrong but I could not and did not reply, she said I went white, I felt soooo unwell and never encountered anything like this before.

As fast as I had became ill, it must of reached it's pinnacle, I was fine again.

It seems a lot of us just have a slight malfunction - you are certainly not alone

Just keep an eye on things Paul, and make an appointment tosee your GP to discuss it with him so they can mayeb regularly monitor your BP, cholesterol, etc - something like this can be a warning shot across the bough so don't just write it off without getting it follow up
