December 7, 200124 yr Is it "safe" to change the auto tranny fluid in a 1990 TT which (to my knowledge) has never had a change in it's life? The gear changes are a bit strange (2-3 seconds to change up from 2nd) so I was going to try a fluid change. Any thoughts? Ta. JonnyC
December 10, 200124 yr DO IT !!! AFAIK, the fluid should be changed every 60.000 km !!!! Don't forget to drain / clean the fluid radiator as well. ------------------ 1990 300ZX 2+2 TT (Z32) Auto Stage III 1992 300ZX 2+2 TT (Z32) Manu Stage VII 1992 Dodge Stealth 2+2 TT AWD Manual Internet Z Car Club #1000 TwinTurbo.Net #4
December 10, 200124 yr Fair enough! Will it (or should it) have a noticable effect on the changes? JC
December 11, 200124 yr Same thing as with an engine oil change. If you DON'T do it, you'll damage something. If you do it....nope. If your fluid is extremely dirty...it may improve things Henri ------------------ 1990 300ZX 2+2 TT (Z32) Auto Stage III 1992 300ZX 2+2 TT (Z32) Manu Stage VII 1992 Dodge Stealth 2+2 TT AWD Manual Internet Z Car Club #1000 TwinTurbo.Net #4
December 11, 200124 yr I just noticed the price of Dextron III fluid - £6 per litre! So I'll be changing it AFTER Christmas then...!
December 18, 200124 yr The long gear change may be down to your oil if your really really reeeeaaallly lucky! p.s. good luck.
