Vacuum Leak/s???

OK shoot me down in flames for being stupid BUT with regard to the turbo gauge on dash, (UK model -14 to + 14 p.s.i).

Should the needle rest at -14 on idle, mine isn't, (about a fifth up) does this mean ive got a leak somewhere or am I just panicking?

Oh and on the subject any advice on silicone or stainless pipes for a replacement?

Hi,

The stock gauge isn't acurate, it sounds about right.

Evening Roy,

You're not paranoid - the turbo guage should not rest at -14 when at idle. The turbo spools are constantly spinning regardless of the speed you're doing.

As for the replacements pipes, check out my stainless steel boost pipe kit pic in the rides section, courtesy of Smithy at Cybercrafts. They look the dogs danglies.

Cheers mate.

Danny

samco turbo hoses you can get in different colours as a set for the z for less than £100. Stainless steel ones from smithy for £200+. Personal pref really. Tho the steel ones are going to heat up and will be transferring some of that heat into the intake charge. Not good but it's marginal i guess... and its something else to polish.
