Are engine lifts ok on unlevel ground? I know its not ideal. Using a trolley jack its a little scary on the slope I have as two wheels lift on the jack. As an engine lift is alot heavier are they ok on a small slope?

Heres a pic of my unlevel bit you can see the incline from the way the tent frame is.

an engine lift/hoist will fine as long as you chock the wheels to air on caution and account for the "plumb" of the strap or chain

Cheers, does that go for budget lifts as well. Should I be looking for any specific features.

any type of heavy machinery/bench tools and i wouldn't go for budget. just as long as the S.W.L of the hoist is enough to cope with the weight of the engine then, you will be fine.

i lifted a N/A engine with a 500KG hoist, using a 2ton tow rope, i wouldn't advise anyone else doing it this way, it did work for me lol
