RIP, im over in America currently, and of course its high up in the news.

Rip to all those who died and are still being killed by terrorists in or from Ireland, but the yanks chose to forget that when they were funding the bombs god bless em.The IRA maimed and killed scores of people in the 70s and 80s but the good ole USA have a short memory when it comes to that.

please dont turn this into a political thread, innocent people died due to the selfish b4stards that pulled the trigger, not the people that gave them the weapons to do so

Like it or lump it Al.Its a political issue and a can of worms im afraid but thats life aint it.If you sell/fund the weapons your as guilty as the person that uses it.Its not like selling a car to a guy that goes on to do a hit and run is it now.Ask any yank on the Britain/Ireland problem and await the "Im with Ireland cus my great great grandad was Irish "spill.America is awash with Bullshit Irish Pubs so Yanks can so say touch base with their roots.

R.I.P to those who died.

Believing a book...and what book is that mate? I do not think you have your facts correct...every major religious book promotes peace and loving your neighbour. Has it not crossed your mind that the people that hide behind religion suffer from small man syndrome and have a hunger for power.

Its never a book or any particular religion. But how things are portrayed.

oh i understand, but they use the book as an excuse to cause these atrocoties

not everyone does but these 14 people did and im appalled by it

That is a fair comment mate. But not everyone like ourselves has the intelligence to realise this. Unfortunately ever since 911, I have seen so many incorrectly written or spoken words regarding religion and voilence that it is very important to state things clearly as it breed ignorance in many people.

Religion should be banned worldwide. that would solve 76.5% of the worlds war issues. I remember when this happened. Such a shame. I was due to be working at the top of Canary Wharf shortly after when a threat came through about that too. Damn them all :(

Right from day one, religion has been used to cause suffering. "the Crusades" "Northern Ireland" "Muslims Mis-interpretation"

No religion = less suffering

the fear of god was used to rule the world, now we use the fear of a nuclear srtike

first and most importantly of all, RIP to all the innocents that died on 9/11 (I always miss it because I think it's the 9th Nov, not the 11th Sep!)

I've never been actively religious, I try to take a logical approach to how and why religions started (and this spills over a little into that other recent thread about life, the universe and everything). I don't think religion itself is responsible for war/terror, but rather people's mistrust and fear of other people who are not like themselves, be it a different religion/culture/beliefs or coming from a different part of the world.

I'm sure 99.99% of religious people are peaceful, and enjoy attending their church, mosque, temple, gurdwara, etc. and practising their religion and meeting their like-minded brothers and sisters.

In terms of banning it, has anyone seen the film 'Equilibrium' where religion, art, and even feelings are banned in an Orwellian society because they are blamed for war, leaving people to shuffle around like zombies and treated as a resource.

Just my 2p :)

no mate, chester le street is more duhram than sunderland, what uni did hou go to?

I remember that day very well.

I had a radio on my bench where I use to work and remember listening as the tragic events of that day unfolded.

RIP to all the innocent people and brave emergency service men and women who lost their lives that day.

Yeah, RIP to all of them, have been to ground zero, is a truly disturbing atmosphere, very creepy, sounds weird but you can almost 'feel' the suffering that took place, i wonder if the evil b*stards that did it are actually up there with 20 virgins or whatever b*llocks they believe in, somehow i think not.

I think I have the name of the road mixed up. I was right near the shopping centre. Where the hotels was..near Sunderland train station. If that makes sense to you.
