I,ve took this week off with the intention of getting all the welding done on the zed , two days in and one sides done

zedrebuild192.jpg

Cut the sill section off to reveal

zedrebuild193.jpg

zedrebuild196.jpg

Then cut the inner panel back to reveal

zedrebuild197.jpg

zedrebuild200.jpg

So i made a repair section and a new drain tube

zedrebuild204.jpg

zedrebuild206.jpg

Then sectioned the inner panel

zedrebuild209.jpg

Then the outer sill section and cut down the repair arch to as little as i could use as the arch only had one section of rot on it but i thought it best to fit it all anyway for peace of mind

Just the other side to do now !!!

Out of curiousity, why did you seem weld the arches on bud?

If it,s just stitch welded your leaving a gap inbetween the welds that moisture caused by condensation forming on the inside of the panels could penetrate and start rusting again even if it,s waxoiled theres always a chance of not covering it all , i,ve always seam welded arches to eliminate any chance of this happening . HTH

God!-I wish I could do that!!

Should have come round a bit earlier and you could have . lol :tt2::tt2:

Nice job

Has that rot been caused by the Targa drain leaking ?

i never got why nissan ran a plastic pipe down that runs water out and attached it to a metal pipe at the bottom

there is also a rubber pipe that drains water off into the front rad support bracket

I don,t think it was , they do have the odd hole here and there for grommets and drain holes , i think as well as letting water out if your in a real downpour water will inevitably get in and with acceleration the waters gonna get pushed as far back as it will go which is the back of the sill area then when it warms up condensation will form especially around the wet area , hence why it rots from the sill up normally .Well that,s my theory anyway .

:smartass::smartass: lol

Hey Boldy,

You have done a lot of work, looks fantastic...

Every time I see her I get all nostalgic about wanting to own one again... I guess once you have owned one the feeling never goes away. :winkiss:

If you ever decide to sell let me know:hyper:

You've missed out mate. Boldy recently sold it. Gorgeous Zed.

just out of interest...was this sold to manta? then to me by any chance? Silver zed, blue calipers. I've just had to have the other side welded same section this week, and when i checked the opposite corner, I remember saying, couldnt be more different, its absolutely solid and must have had some work/paint at some point... or did this turn out into your magnificent blue beast?
