This is why online shopping was invented. Only good thing came from shop assistants was the film Clerks :tongue_smilie:

He was ignored in a store, deal with it. Customers are all to quick to dismiss sales staff asking if help is needed with a sale because they feel they are being 'hounded' yet when they actually want help they expect it immediately. Maybe the two were doing something productive but talking at the same time - it is allowed you know.

Oh Dear and its this very attitude that makes more and more people shop online.

Its a service industry, the customer IS always right, Deal with it.

But hey stick to your guns I am sure in the not to distant future you will

run out of those annoying customers on their high horses expecting to be served with some degree of courtesy and then you will be left to chat as long as you like.:whistling:

Its a service industry, the customer IS always right

I think there's also just common decency. If I was walking down the street talking to a friend and a stranger came up to ask for directions, I'd put my conversation on pause and spend two seconds helping them out.

If it was my job (it has been) to help customers, then damn straight I'd help them out. I know it's shit pay, but no one is forcing them to do it!

Out of interest, what was the shop in question?

I live in Worthing I think I may have been to the same store. A few weeks ago I went to buy a small fridge to go in the garage for beers, what else? They had just what I was looking for and the price was good. The sales person went off to check stock. I waited and waited; another sales person asked me if I was being attended to, I said sort of, and then saw the original woman talking to a new customer. I pointed this out and the assistant went over to the woman. There was a lot of pointing and laughter. It appeared the first woman had gone to the storeroom and forgot why she was there! It then transpired the item was out of stock. I said not to worry I will take the one on display. There was a look of horror on the assistant’s face, ‘sir that is not allowed under any circumstances’. I bid them farewell and promptly left! Or some words like that.

Another time I went to purchase a digital camera in a different store. A spotty young assistant came over I explained what I required. I told him exactly which camera I wanted. It was right there in the display cabinet. He panicked and said ‘oh no I don’t know anything about cameras I will get my colleague to serve you’. This was a well-known CAMERA shop; they mainly sold cameras! The colleague shouted back across the shop at the photo ignorant lad and told him he was a complete ******* idiot, a real stupid ****. After this outburst he walked out saying he was on his lunch break. I think the shop has since closed down.

i used to be a manager at B&Q and i can honestly say its not the customers its not the staff its people in general. if its not a difficult customer that expects everything for nothing is still rude and speaks to you like your dirt. then its staff that dont want to be there and have no pride or care in their job because there on £5 summin an hopur at best and are sick of customer abcs attitude. so the moral of the story is generally peoples attitudes stink most people. so be as polite to people as you would expect to be given to yourself no matter how muich your spending/being paid or what side of the counter your on. it applies to general life just try and be respectfull and if some one is rude make sure they know about it!

im always polite and please and thankyou eveyone, im always exeptionally polite to barmaids always saying "excuse me could i have" (if there is a lot of people at a bar and you need to catch their attention)

but there was this one barmaid who kept ignoring me and kept serving her mates who kept coming to the bar after me, after about ten mins i whistled and she came storming over and shouted "no need to whistle, im not a fookin dog" to which i replied "well like a dog, only a whistle got your attention", i started to walk away and the bouncer stopped me walked to the bar, gave the barmaid a mouthfull and i got a free pint and an apology from the bouncer

never seen the barmaid in there again

result, i find atm the worse one is diog walkers where i fish. theyre dogs are no under control eat your bait piss on your stuff jump all over where your fishing then 10 minutes later they come along after you have wrestled teh dog off you and call the dog compltly ignore you ive had two appolgies in 10 years. im a dog owner myself but a dog 50 meters ahead of you that you cant see is not under control
