Guys, having a nightmare of a time bleeding my sons brakes on his Pug 106.

Initially just bleed them as paart of a service when he bought the car some months ago. After managing to shear off 1 bleed nipple, changed the master cylinder they last about 2-3 weeks and then go to the floor again. I need to replace a bleed nipple at the rear as it's now pretty much fubar'd. Although it not leaking there!

I haven't found any leaks in the system all the slave's are good. Each time I bleed them I only get a small amount of air out, I know that it only takes a small but I'm buggered if I can found out where it's getting in. The only item I haven't replaced is the brake servo (black circular jobbie on bulkhead)

Is there anything else anyone could recommend as after 3 attempts I'm getting a bit frustrated and he's off to Uni and I can't have him using the car in it's present state.

cheers H

I did my zed by gravity, takes longer but seems to work. Loosened of the nipples, put a bit of pipe in a bottle and opened the brake fluid resovoir and just topped up as required until the fluid ran through true. Seems to have worked very well! Good firm pedal and stops very well. (This was on my D2 8 pot calipers but cant see why it wouldnt work on anything else) The calipers of course were completly dry before being connected to the brake lines which were wet. Just simply let the fluid drain down.

Did you bleed the abs units too matey? And how long did it take to gravity bleed?

Had this with my mums golf, piston seal was leaking so repaired. Bleed the brake about 5 time always the pedal was soft. Brought one of these and with in 5 mins brakes done.

I have one if you want to borrow.

No I didnt need to as the way we did it meant that there was never an air lock in the system, only at the caliper end. So simply let the fluid pass through the abs unit. (assuming that my abs unit works/isnt bypassed haha)

I think it took around 20-30 minutes for a "solid" stream of fluid to be coming through. Just a case of waiting and topping up. Obviously if the resovoir becomes empty then you have to start again!

I'm sure someone on here used to gravity feed but cant remember who it was, thats where i got the idea from because basically it sounded easy! And i figured that i could pour fluid into a pot and I couldnt get that hugely wrong!
