Group B are the ultimate imo. The start of the health and safety and PC onslaught when they banned these. Bring 'em back.

LOL - I used to work for Lancia back in those days - I remember the successor for the Delta S4 was going to be approaching 1000bhp from its weedy 1700cc 4 pot engine!!

Shame it never made it to race - Lancia sent us all the specs for this new machine. Was awesome!

I have never seen the layout before - they used a 4 valve design with the inlets & exhausts in a X fashion - one exhaust & one inlet on either side - this had the advantage of running 2 manifolds, one on either side of the head for maximum gas flow in & out of the twin turbos:

You can't beat the Audi quattro S1 for sound :D Its a shame they got banned but it made european rallycross great between 87 - 92

I had a celica st182 and loved it  shame it wasn't a sainz version lol!

Audi s1 short wheel base evolution :punk: The noise of the anti lag and wastegate was pant wetting. And the metro 6r4 also sounded nuts.Used to see quite a few at a local rally held every year.Anyone ever seen the video of Walter Rohl driving the Audi? Amazing bit of footage.Guy was a legend at the wheel.

Wheres the tissues Lol.I remember watching an interview with Walter where he said how dangerous it was driving down lanes at 100mph lined with crowds, the drivers needed physiotherapy between stages as it took such a toll on them.Mental.

Fricking awesome:w00t:

Group B Rallying was the nuts. Damn the health and safety Nazis - its not like us humans are an endangered species (yet).

Was really the golden age of motorsport back then, if you look at the Group C racing and even the F1 cars of that time - it makes todays efforts look half arsed and over complicated. 1500 bhp and barely enough rubber or downforce to contain it - taking your hand off the wheel to change gear. Racing drivers were not necessarily fearless, but they were pretty fricking brave in comparison to todays bunch of simulator trained geeks.

One of my all time favourite cars...
