As many of you have noticed by now, FunkySi was handed a permanent ban from the club yesterday evening.

Many members know Simon and we are all familiar with his presence on the forums. He was indeed a popular character who made several friends in the club (me included); and he possesses a great knowledge and enthusiasm for the Nissan 300zx.

However, as popular as he was, The Committee has (on several previous occasions) received complaints against Simon; because many members have felt offended, intimidated and even bullied by some of his acerbic posts. Some members have stopped visiting the forums as much or, in extreme circumstances, left the club altogether as a result. Simon has, consequently, received warnings and infraction for the worst side of his behaviour; and indeed has been handed short term bans on more than one occasion before now.

Following a recent incident, and subsequent complaint(s), The Committee had a formal vote on what action to take in order to prevent this recurring. The verdict was, regrettably, to permanently ban Simon from the club. Simon was duly informed of The Committee's decision (and reasoning behind the decision) by e-mail yesterday evening, in accordance with the Club's formal policy on such matters; and, in keeping with Club policy, was offered the chance to appeal against The Committee's decision.

This is a private matter between The Committee and Simon himself. So whilst we appreciate he will be missed by those he befriended over the years, please respect this privacy and refrain from posting "Reinstate Si" type threads etc on the forums. Any such posts will be swiftly moderated and persistent offenders will be dealt with as necessary.

Thank you.

Richard Smith

Club Secretary

On behalf of The Committee

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
