Group Buy on Denso Iridium Plugs.

Hello,

Would any of you like a set of Denso Iridium plugs for your Zed?

These plugs are the same as the HKS Iridiums which you can buy for £17 each, Denso are the OEM, however...

A set of 6 Denso plugs will be just £55 delivered.

There is one proviso, that is we need an even number of sets of any temperature type as they are supplied in packs of 4 and the suppliers wont supply half sets.

This is pretty simple to resolve really cos if 2 people want the same plug type then that's 3 whole packs (12 plugs).

If anyone wants some, then to register an interest email either me at jezz_s13@hotmail.com or Steve Carter at steve@carter200.fsnet.co.uk and address details etc will be sent to you for you to send your cheques to.

The closing date for the GB will be about a month, say 20th October ish. Delivery of plugs will be about 2 weeks after this date.

the Plug types for the Zed are the IK range.

They come in a few different temp ranges which you should chose to match you level of boost anbd modification.

On the Zed I'm not sure of what this should be, but I'm sure dare I say it SE will, or perhhaps other members.

This thread here might also be useful to you but I imagine IK20's (std 6's)and IK22's (7's) are likely to be the most popular.

Any q's either email, me, Steve or post here.

Thanks,

Jezz.

just a question, but can somebody explain to me the benefits of iridium tipped over normal plugs?

Hi, I'm the other guy sorting this group buy.

The idea is to get a more intense spark and therefore give a better burn to the fuel/air mix.

The increased intensity of the spark is because the electrode tip of the plug is only 0.4mm across. Normal copper and platinum tipped plugs would melt far too easily with this size of electrode so iridium is used.

Gah! Double post. mad.gif

...as a lowly na owner, does your supplier do non tt plugs, if so, I'd like a set, but I suppose I need another na owner to make up the numbers - anyone interested?

Jack

Hi Jack,

What are the std plugs for the NA?

You 'might' find that they are the same as the TT.

Looking at this http://www.300zx.co.uk/tech/manual/manual/ma/018.gif they are 'almost' same.

I'm not sure what the 'C' means on the end though, I have an NGK code sheet and it just says 'special feature' . frown.gif

The std Denso replacements are IK20 which are a 6 heat range for the TT.

My Denso catalogue lists TT and NA as having the same replacement plug.

That doesn't sound right to me, I thought the TT had a longer reach plug ?

Std TT plug is PFR6B-11B

PFR6B-11C is very similar but a little shorter.

Here is what the codes mean :- http://www.300zx.org.uk/partnumberkey.pdf

That's all very wel andrew but where does it say what the B and C mean? It just says special design as I stated above.

How do you know they have a different reach?

I have both - you can measure them.

Search back for a post from Henri, he explained it all somewhere.

Ok cheers. smile.gif

Here are pics comparing a B and a C.

Thread is longer on the C than the B, which allows the electrode on the B to protrude further. Overall length looks the same.

Can't be arsed to take one of my ND Iridiums out to compare that too and sorry about the size of the pics, but do you really need the detail.

I see what you mean about the differences. Basically 11C has a shrouded nose whereas the 11B doesnt.

Ive checked the catalogue again to make sure and they list the 2 plugs that you mention for the NA and TT but it says that the replcement is the same plug for both.

The story unfolds. There is currently a thread on the Aus forum discussing plugs and they reckon that PFR6-11B's were only for US market cars and that PFR6B-11 is what comes in all Jap TT's. Now I'm confused too ....

Not much interest in a group buy then. frown.gif

I can supply them individually as well if anyone wants them. Will still need 2 buyers though to split 3 packs of plugs between them.
