Calling Photography Fans

I currently have a kodak 12megapixel camera at the moment, offers good photos etc, tho i somehow broke my video recording facility, so im looking to upgrade before before i go on any holidays.

Just wondering what you guys think is good, alout of people are talkign to me about SLR cameras, tho they seem pritty bulky.

I would like to get something with a good optical zoom to allow me oviously to zoom in and still get clear photos.

I would also like it to be pritty good on recognition while snapping as i am quite snap happy, it move on quickly.

And most important........i would like for the camera to easily fit into my pocket, dont want to be trapsing around on holiday with a camera hanging from my neck. Any info, websites, camera links etc would be much appreciated, need to get something in the next week really.

I have been on the likes of camerabox.co.uk, buyacamera.co.uk etc but i cant seem to find what will be best for me, would like to spend around the £100 mark.

Thanks chaps and chapettes!:detective:

I recently bought one of these:

From the same seller - takes great pics with a 12x optical zoom. Nice & slim to go in your pocket too :)

Even cheaper then last year when I bought mine as well!!

Great camera these, you're definately going to have to spend more than £150 for anything remotely decent, obviously everyones definition of decent varies, but I wouldnt touch anything other than a canon, panasonic or fuji.

Plus points on spending more include better image quality, better low light handling, faster shutter response.

Think TZ7 is one i get recommeneded as thats an SLR i beleive with a large sensor inside to allow for capture pictures while items are moving etc. Could be tempted to go for one of them.

The TZ7 isn't an SLR its classed as a point and shoot, SLR or Digital SLR these days have huge sensors compared to P&S cameras, the bigger the sensor the better the image quality and also the level of creativity increases also shutter is practically instant.

A TZ7 sensor is appx 28mm coverage, an entry level canon DSLR is around 328mm so tiny in comparison. Checking the specs the focus time on the TZ7 is appx. 6s so fairly good but not ideal for fast moving subjects.

Have a look through these flickr groups taken with the TZ7 some nice examples.

Those photos look fantastic!

SO tempted to go for an SLR tho but just dont want that bulky feeling, so i suppose the tz7 is winning, i will put a list and links up in a while to some cameras ive noticed, see what se think and if they would be any good.
