When looking for a new car, I looked at Lambos, R8, and 997 Turbos and Ferraris.

 

I went on the Lambo forum and they suffer from the same problems as the Ferraris. New clutches every few thousand miles costing £4K a go, after having spent 10K in eight months on Ferrari cluches I when I used to have mine I could not stomach that. I drove an R8 and although I liked the car it was definately slower than my old Porker.

 

So I decided to look at 911s again, I just found this low mileage 997 turbo beauty with just 8K on the clock.

It is going to go straight to DMS for a performance upgrade and tune up that will take it to well over 600BHP. :scared: more than enough for a daily driver!

 

Now I know its not a Nice Zed but I have one of those being tuned up as we speak as well.

i seen an 10 plate white audi r8 convertible in sunderland the other day and it was stunning, was parked next to a ferrari f430 (also white) and the ferrari looked shit in comparison

I did really like the R8 to drive but it was so slow, im not sure I could have lived with the loss of performance. But im sure it would have been a real nice and reliable daily driver to own.

we got a young chap down here driving around in a silver R8 and he drove past me on friday! once i put me tongue in and rearranged me trousers thought YES! a black R8 would be very nice PLEASE!

Audi is only 420bhp as standard so you would need to tune it an awful lot to get into the 600s. I can get this over 600BHP for just 7K

think i would agree there. Wouldnt say no to any of the choices you had tho.

But everybody has proshces these days and i think as standard 400+BHP is plenty for an everyday driver!

Mrs told me I should have a weekend car as well as the Zed, so I did think about having both for a minute but thought its a waste of money. I just need a decent daily driver and the zed TBH.

 

There are quite a few Porsches on the road these days but 911 Turbo is the top of the range and is still the one to have. I must say though Audis are still a lot lot more common and jo bloggs just thinks the R8 is just another Audi.

i would go for the porker too.

End of the day if Martin is happy with the porker then that's all the matters. If he needs its for a day to day car then I would buy it too. You know it will start every morning to get you to work and then back home. Think I need a lay down starting to sound like Funky Si.:whistling:

Porsche is a great car for everyday driving while the lambo or ferrari would be a sunny weekend car as they are more tempermental

I think you maybe right to a degree Stellaz, I had a challanged upbringing on what can only be described as a reservation rather than an estate. Mainly because it was full of people that were animals, they stole, burnt, beat, and destroyed anything of value.

 

One year for Christmas my Big Brother got his first job and bought me two posters. The first was of a lovely tanned women in Hawaii with flowing dark eyes and flowers around her neck.

 

The other was of one of those 80s Blonds with the curly top gun stylee hair, wearing big round reflective sunglasses draped over a red 911. Every morning I woke up and looked at her and the car for a good few minutes dreaming and promising myself that one day I would own one.

 

I have to say that I have done some really special things in my life, and been fortunate enough to start a great company on £100 that went places. There have only ever been two days in my adult life when I actually cried. The first one was when I got married, and the second one was when I bought my first Porsche.

 

When the guy handed me the keys and we left, I sat behind the wheel and after five minutes of feeling that it could not be true, I honestly sat there with my wife and cried. I could not believe that all my childhood dreams from longing day after day for a better life had come true and it was the most important goal in my life I ever had.

 

Yeah they might be common now but im just a common kid come good so maybe we suit each other lol

 

I did Cry when I had my 360F1 but only because the fecking thing kept trying to catch fire, or over power me with the smell of petrol fumes in the cockpit. One day when the fecking thing did its usual spin sideways at a roundabout thing I got out and kicked the shit out of it. I am shuddering now thinking about that blinkin piece of Italian crap. Honestly some things in life are just a con and im afraid Ferrari is the biggest let down I have had. Everyone told me they suck and I thought I knew better only to find out the hard way. I would not swop my zed for another piece of Italian crap if you paid me.

i admire you mate, i like someone who is honest and is willing to work for what they have, if i had the cash a porsche it would be, and mainly for the fact that it is a porsche

 

i work me balls off and cant (or wont who knows lol) afford a 10k loan for a bmw m3 (e46) i must get more work done on me house

 

r8's are lovely and the ragtop i seen the other day looked amazing but its just and audi and it sounds much better to tell people you have a porker lol

Thats a nice choice madmax You cant beat a porker when it comes to reliability. Ive been lucky enough to own a couple of porkers and they have never let me down(only a 944 and a boxster) so not in the same league but reliable all the same. I would agree that ferrari build quality is not what you would expect as we test drove a few for our wedding car buisiness. The 348 was not as good as my ztt and the 360 spider was sexy and sounded awsome but was a bit of a larry let down with its clunky gearbox and poor quality and shabby hood.It was honestly not a touch on the db9 we were using at the time.

So nice,but its a aston for me one day when things pickup abit!!!alot!!! nothing like pulling up to the savoy hotel in london passing the keys to the conciege and the looks you get from all the pompus politcian looking twats giving you the evil eye as the porter collects you cases.

Cant wait till the day i get one of my own, Will still keep my zed though!!!
