MOT and Spots

Hi Guys

 

Went to see my local car spares shop, and we were talking about spot welding, anyway it then transpired that all repairs where a part that was spot welded on and removed , must be welded continuously along its seams, ie you cant spot weld it back on.

 

Has anyone come across this at all

    Any repair patches must be continuously seam welded for MOT purposes - spot welding is acceptable for a complete panel replacement if this was the original method of fixing
