Iv'e got a 8800GTX for £50. Not a huge upgrade but will make a difference to the settings you can run.

No probs Dave will keep that in mind.

did have them on sli and yes they are awesome! Unfortunatly one packed up one me, so I had to go back to single gpu.

presuming it's a pcie slot your's being an 8 series, then the bargain performance card of the moment is the Radeon HD5850 1gb for about £200 just check your psu is upto running one though. The 5850 only slightly(about 10% iirc) falls short performance wise of the £320+ HD5870

I was looking at an ATI Radeon 4890 which I can get for about £130, have had a chat with my neighbour who is a pc systems analyst or something similar, typical its not straight forward as you say with the choices of slots in the mother boards, am hoping this one will be fine, I need to open the tower and check it to see what type I need to get. I have a 4870 1gb at moment which is pretty good but soon gonna get the 5850 dx11 support with the 5 series ati's which will keep things up to date and they're supposed to be quicker than the 2x4870's(yep they're supposed to be that good). Chances are if you had an Nvidia 8600GTS in your board it would be pcie not agp as I think the last of the agp cards was the 7xxx series then phased out

Well I am hoping the 8600GTS will go in my sons pc as his card died this week, he had a 7300 card (cant remember the exact model) so hopefully it will fit so I can upgrade my pc with a new card, I have a quad core processor and 3gb of memory so its only the card that needs to be updated.
