First of all..................Perfect weather for the zed!!!!

Well i was away in perth today golfing...........while driving there, went to have a blast off one of the roundabouts, tho the car spluttered (if that makes sence?)

anyways thought best just sit and take it easy so i did.

Went and played some golf in the nice sunshine, enjoyed it even with a high score.lol.

Back to the zed on the motorway heading home. my friend pulls up beside me in his rx-8 and all the zed could do is sit with him, was spluttering again, didnt feel like the turbos where going what-so-ever and it showed as i could not pass him when i should have been able to easily do it.

SO anyways........racking my brain wondering what it could be, boost leak, clutch? goosed turbos?:

So i was in 4th gear and brought the boost gauge to 0psi. while maintaing the same speed, it dropped off, is this normal?

Then......later tried again and in second gear the car boosted, but something wasnt quite right as it did not pull as much as it should imo, tho it still shifted and i still got a small splutter.

My clutch is going to be needing replaced soon i think as biting point is quite high and changing gear it is very soft, could this be the problem and while going on boost its slipping and not working correctly?

Car idles fine which makes me think theres no air leaks atall.

Basically wondering what thoughts might be on this, could the turbos be goosed? Could it be the clutch? Can the propshaft effect it atall as i know that now needs replaced due to vibration through seat?

Sorry for the huge speal guys,

thanks alot craig.:boat:

craig when you say its missing, is that at the point of going into full boost or at full boost.

Sounds like one of the plugs is messing about at full boost. i guess on idle/normal driving the plugs are fine, but giving it some feels one is maybe not firing as much as it should have you checked the ptu connections? and that all coil packs are seated nice and tight.

Well, normally at 3-3.5k revs the car goes on full boost and you feel it pulling........just not feeling this what-so-ever mate. I will go out and check all connections that i can see and ensure its all tight.

Have you got a series 2 ptu?

not sure how do i tell mate?

checked on the car there, then checked photos of s1 and s2 ptus in the search part to clarify what i have.

Its an s2 PTU that i have on my car, so with it being the upgraded one i wouldnt imagine it to have the soldering failure or anything, wires etc look ok also?

My old Grey TT did this a couple of times, I never got to the bottom of it but i did suspect the o2 sensors.

When did it last have the fuel filter changed? When were the plugs last changed? Was it running high boost at the time or low boost (you have a greddy ebc dont you?)

Pass on the fuel and plug changed, tho would have roughly been in the last 12-18months i think.

It was in high boost and yeah its a greddy profec 2 i believe?

Irs difficult to diagnose any chance you can check it for fault codes? When it stuttered was it jerking as power was coming on and off or just no power?

it jurked alittle.

then i didnt feel the usual throwback in your seat you get when coming around 3.5kish revs.

i understand it will be difficult to diagnose for anybody.

Only way to check for fault codes is if i book it into the local garage tomorrow afternoon or wednesday morning after ive had a look and all wiring etc and try cleaning connections in the morning.

Oviously that will come at a pritty charge i imagine.

Welcome back to zed ownership mate lol

lol, i know!!

I will check it all out first thing then i will be take it for a diagnose's check at the local garage. i just hope the tubz have packed up, tho i dont think so i could hear them spool.

im sure andy has the thing to plug in and do the check may be wrong though, if he does he could do it wednesday for you maybe at the meet. have to ask him mind you lol

I was more thinking of doing the simply flash test, im sure there is a how too on here somwhere which will give you the error codes (if any!) or code 55 for all clear. Its free and easy IIRC

sounds like the engines knackered :tt2:

How could u even joke like that with me.lol

Flashtesting? Will do a search in the morning for this as on mobile the now and I will give Andy a pm also.

Fault finding day ahead tomorrow

No mate. Sold the engine on.

Anyways will update tomorrow if I get car going correctly.lol

just in from checking connections, cleaning them up and checking pipes for cracks etc.

going a run now so fingers crossed the car will boost nicely so wish me luck.lol.

I had something similar on my car in the few days I owned it before I took it apart. It was a loose hard pipe causing a loss in boost and a spluttering when you started to get the revs up. Basically because of worn engine mounts the engine was whipping a bit and pulling the end of the pipe off no matter how tight it was.

Ok no problem thanks for that max. Was out in the car there. Was boosting but not to max boost I don't think, was a slight splutter also again. Then I thought I heard a kind of vibration rubbing sound. It's hard to explain. It's as if something is holding her back. Need to get some car ramps purchased and get underneath on Friday to have a good look at pipes underneath. Rather than just peaking down. But everything pipe wise etc seemed ok.
