Another digital SLR Question? memory card speed?

Hi Camera buffs, How much difference does it make to the camera when a fast memory card is installed? I have a 512mb Kingston compact flash at the moment about 3 years old and I am thinking of getting a 4gb ultra speed, would this make a difference to speed shots? any suggestions or good site`s to get them from?

kind regards

Darren.

Hi mate, from what i've been told by those in the know - Yes a faster memory card will help the speed of the camera, especially when trying to achive many shots per second.

I was in pc world the other day and they had on offer a superfast memory card (i think it was 100x) and if memory serves - it was an 8GB and it was about £35. I think it was a memorex.

Anyway in answer to the question a faster card is better.

Cheers dude! I have seen them up to 300x-400x i wonder if they make that much difference from a 100x? thanks for the info

stop being a big puff with your puffy 512mb card ;)

try your old fave ebuyer.com I got my cards off there

The specs say the 300d can take 2.5 fps upto a maximum of 4 before the buffer is full, so a mega fast card won't make much difference, so I wouldnt buy the fastest available card as the camera will be only chucking out around 16mb per second.

Once you've learned what all the settings do and all the numbers you will have a shot in mind and be able to set the camera up to achieve the desired effect. This was the most rewarding factor to me, to be able to use its til its full potential, only your creative genius is the limit once you know how it all works.
